I just paid a local shop to rebuild the transmission in my VX to the tune of about $3000. During the rebuild, shop called and said they would need to replace my bell housing due to damage. I agreed.
To make a long story short, the car is now making a loud friction noise (not gear grinding, but sounds like two metal plates rubbing together) when switching between reverse and drive. Today I crawled under the car and snapped some pics, and it looks like there is at least a dust cover missing since the flywheel seems to be exposed in multiple places, but it also doesn't look to me like the transmission bell housing even correctly lines up with the mount points on the VX motor.
Could anyone here please have a look at these pics and advise? Is this even the correct housing? Am I just missing a dust cover?
