Well....recently I messed up and got into a accident with my VX. I still don't know if it's totalled or not but theres a chance. Anyways I was looking around on craigslist (kind of a online classifids) I found a 88 RX-7 for 500. I am planning to buy the car since it's running other then a clutch problem and it smogs. But after thinking about my insurnace I am not sure I want this to be a street car, then I started to think that this might be my chance to get a beater to be a track car. Just incase my VX doesn't get totalled anyone know if it can tow a 3000lbs car + hitch (the car shouldn't acutally weight 3000 but its damn close)??

Man, glad you're alright... how'd it happen? Always real sad to hear about a VX getting banged up, but the driver walking away matters a lot more.

I'd never tow a thing if I didn't absolutely have to, but that's just me and because I don't like sacrificing maneuverability and safety. Yeah, it'll do it with the right setup, and apparently pretty well. I'm not real well-informed on it besides what I've glimpsed in passing, but there are some here who tow boats and such and can give you more info (also you can do a search and find related posts).

There are 2 solutions for towing - the Dalan hitch available through UHaul (rated capacity of 3500lbs) and the one I offer, capable of handling the rated max capacity of our frame, 5000lbs. Search using HITCH and you’ll find pics and discussions of both.
