Hi, All!
My name is Pavel, and I`m from Moscow (Russia). I own a car Isuzu Vehicross JDM. I have been reading your forum for long time, and finally decided to show my v-cross! I apologize in advance for my bad English.

So, in January, I became the owner of JDM Isuzu VehiCross 1997 y. The car is controversial, but I have always loved ...
I like to change the machine that I own, and Vehicross is no exception

So, I began to change the dashboard lights (standard lighting was too sad ...)

http://c.a.d-cd.net/61388a8s-960.jpg

It has been

It became
http://c.a.d-cd.net/be388a8s-960.jpg

A little more than two months ago, I gave the car to change the appearance in one respected Minsk tuning-studio.
I set them the task - to please me and do a great job list.

Here's what they had to do:
- Complete repainting with a change of color. With the openings, the engine compartment;
- Full of sound insulation;
- make a new seats;
- Installation of new music, rear view camera;
- Complete cleaning interior - plastic, with carpet removal, ceiling, etc.;
- Well, in general, complete disassembly of the machine to the smallest screw, visual inspection for corrosion and fatigue elimination and assembly.
- Install Rear View Camera, CB radiostation, Monitor with DVD receiver

So, here's what happened:
Here's a my car was in the day of purchase -
http://g.a.d-cd.net/eb73358s-960.jpg

This is how it looks now -
http://a.a.d-cd.net/b2b3358s-960.jpg

http://b.a.d-cd.net/52b3358s-960.jpg
http://g.a.d-cd.net/d2b3358s-960.jpg

Line in the salon I decided to make blue the color of the altered light on the instrument panel:
http://a.a.d-cd.net/ecb3358s-960.jpg

http://c.a.d-cd.net/f4b3358s-960.jpg

http://b.a.d-cd.net/2cb3358s-960.jpg

My pride - a new seats!
So it was:
http://h.a.d-cd.net/6b73358s-960.jpg
http://a.a.d-cd.net/cb73358s-960.jpg

And so it is now:

http://h.a.d-cd.net/dcb3358s-960.jpg
http://c.a.d-cd.net/3cb3358s-960.jpg

So, photos of camera, CB radiostation, Monitor with DVD receiver I post later.

PS again sorry for my bad english!(
I hope my story you have not tired!

Wow! Russian words) But if you obsoletely love the interior, its need to say - "Horosho!";)

In Russia we have many custom services. Interior costs to me - 1700$ (alter seats, rudder, handlebars). But the cost of cars is - unreal. I bought my car for 12 000$ in those state! And its not high cost for v-cross in Russia.

UFO tuning is my friends) They made a new color of dash light for my hummer h3 some time ago. I ask them try to do new style of dash lights with my isuzu, and the did it.

They can do it for you, but it is needed to send them dash board (how it in english?). They change lights to LEDs and sent back. But I think postal services will be cost high :(

By the way, how much cost this transformation in USA?

That is a difficult question to answer. As I said before, quality interior work is NOT easy to find in US, and when you do find it, you pay a lot for it! Just reupholstering leather seats costs $500-$800 per seat. That doesn't include fiber optic stitching. I am guessing, but your interior will cost $4000-$5000 to duplicate in US. Sound system (music ;)) is completely dependent on choice of components, so I can easily be $1000-$5000. A quality, black custom pain job is probably another $5000-$6000.

So we are talking about approximately $15000 to perform a similar transformation in US. And I am probably being on the low side. Extras, like rims/tires and overhaul of mechanical components, can easily move this price well north of $20000!!!

Considering that you are starting out with $5000-$6000 car, even after all this work, it will not be worth much more than around $10000. That is why you almost never see such custom jobs done to sub-$50,000 cars. Unless... owners do it themselves to keep labor cost way down!

But who the hell is Mr. Kraft's Super Bowel Ring??

Kraft, is the owner of the BEST American Football team (The New England Patriots) ;). During Kraft's visit to St Petersburg, he showed Putin his Superball ring (this is a common thing to show off in US). But Putin misunderstood the gesture as a gift and put it in his pocket.

Kraft didn't want to make an issue about it at the moment and embarrass Putin (in front of media), figuring he can explain it late and get it back. But Putin wouldn't give it back. They are still fighting over it, NINE years later! It is now on display in Kremlin, in one of the museums.

And that is, kids, how WW3 was started... :laughing:

Faivish
06/20/2013, 08:26 AM
Oh! I can not imagine how to live without tunins car services( Normally I do not like my cars in stock. And I always submitting changes to interior and exterior.
The cost of a similar transformation in US is too high!((

At last I was able to again meet with professionals from UFO Tuning Station in Moscow. And though they called me a heartless person, but I managed to get them to finish the job once the change of illumination of devices on the diode.

Left to do: block climate, lighting gear selection with automatic transmission, the button Power, Snow, buttons and folding heated mirrors, put the new diode light interior lighting!

Today, all these parts are dismantled and taken away to make new scheme.:)

As you probably guessed, I'm a big fan of interesting accessories for my cars) So, I decided to do a custom-key for my VX.
It is made from a single piece of bronze. I spent a lot of time searching for a man who could do it for me.

So yesterday I took the finished key, today I made the engraving! And here is the result:

The interior updates you have completed are very pleasing and a source of envy. I would like to be able to accomplish an equivalent here in the US.

No doubt that they are expensive to make ... I just wasn't expecting them to be that expensive.

I was producing for Vehicross Russia more than 10 pieces and I made a discount.
The cost for one was 76$ but it must be not less than 10 pieces

Finally! Someone is doing something VX's very mediocre brakes! What application did these come from? Did you have any luck finding larger rotors?

In Russis I can find Brembo brakes, or JBT brakes for VX... they are too expensive!
$ 2,000 for the front axle and about $ 2,000 for the rear axle (!)

This brakes from Great Wall Hover, is more effective than stock. it suits me)

Yes, a lot have talked about it, but nothing done before this that I know of.

Faivish listed all the part numbers and manufacturers in his original post on the brakes.
Not sure if "The Great Wall" brand of vehicles is sold in the USA. Might be too much protectionism for the local manufacturers.

Wow this ride is sick!!!! It makes my VX look like a disgrace lmao. Good motivation to improve. With the cladding painted gloss black to match the body this thing looks like the Porsche Cayenne's meaner, more muscular big brother. Love it! I agree, the dash lights and interior are awesome. So much custom work! I just got a quote for new boat seats but my boat interior is similar sized...two front and a rear bench plus carpet was quoted at $2,500 for basic materials and no fancy stitching. I'm also interested to hear how your new brakes are working! Very original and very useful, I often find myself wishing the brakes were better while pulling the boat. Everyone in Miami is always honking at me when I'm trailering because I'm goin slow and allowing enough distance to stop with the crappy brakes. Keep the updates comin!

It is a Chinese made SUV that isn't sold in US. But it uses lots of Mitsubishi parts and read up that VX is using same spec front brake pads as FWD Eclipse and many other Mitsubishis, so perhaps, I can find a Mitsubishi option?

I was a little on the fence about getting a VX until I saw THIS thread. I think the bar has been set. What an amazing re-hab. No one has mentioned those cool skull rims too. Very slick! I'd like to ask what was done to the interior door plastic and rear plastic, etc. It all looks like it is painted in a light silver grey or off white. If so do you know what kind of paint was used?

Hello Faivish,
You truly have a beautiful one of a kind VX! Excellent work!

I was hoping that you could give a detailed review of your brake upgrade. Do the rotors have to be changed or will the Hover calipers fit the stock Isuzu rotor? What I'm trying to determine is the minimum parts that need to be ordered from overseas suppliers. Are the pads specific for this caliper? This could be a problem if the pads need to be ordered overseas or I would just buy a few sets to have some spares. Do you think this upgrade is worthwhile? How do you like your braking performance now?

Thanks,
Scott

Pardon me bragging, but I consider my 6-piston JBT brake system (developed by the Russian VXer who also brought us Rotrex supercharger) is way cooler ;)

subbed. Nice work! I'd wanted to do similar things to my last car, but I'm just not that gifted. My VX is largely stock. Still...a few tasteful mods here & there can make a WORLD of difference.

For anyone wondering:

-Adding a 10" sealed sub makes a HUGE difference in the stereo. I bought mine with a ported 8" in a tube, and I upgraded to a 10" in a downfiring sealed box. Can't recommend it enough.

-Get a head-unit with a USB front input. Then get a sandisk ultra-fit 128GB cruzer flash drive. This thumb drive is so small, you can't even tell it's there. Format it with x-FAT (or whatever file format works with your head unit) and you'll never have to swap any storage for new toons....EVER.

New wheels, lens covers for the lights, Brite-*** LED's to counter the effects of the lens covers, night-shades for what I couldn't find lenses for, back to black for the cladding, velour dash mat, hex floor mats, WO seat covers and a plush cover for the steering wheel...and it looks TONS better than stock. Granted, nowhere near as polished as Faivish's lovely handiwork, but still something to be quite proud of.

God i really need new pics...especially since my vanity plate showed up today. ;)
