Just in case there is a difference my VX is a JDM model which I have just bought back after a ten years break.
The car has a few problems one of which is the fact that the blower is going flat out all of the time and there is no variable fan control at all.
When you switch the rotary knob over to off it continues to blow flat out but the aircon switches off as it should so that seems to be working.
We have removed the sensor which goes into the air-flow box (a metal finned unit with a transistor inside) and it appears to be o.k. but we could be wrong about that.
I have no idea what could have been done prior to my purchase so I'm a bit in the dark about it.

That's a tough one...SO many variables...:_confused

In any event, WELCOME back!...

Would it make sense to just buy a new metal finned unit from St Charles Isuzu to start with or is it a Trooper component that I might be able to buy here in the UK?

I believe you're referring to the HVAC Resistor unit - there were at least two versions but the second was used on the climate controlled models (2000 and later I believe). Both units are shared with Troopers and correspond with the same climate controls I believe - if you go to parts catalogs they're the same parts and should be the same prices. The later unit is quite expensive, the earlier less so - try sourcing it locally before paying the ridiculous shipping across the pond.

Thanks, mine is a 1998 so will be the earlier model. Where is the parts catalogue is it on this site?

David, I think your will be the later model one. From photos I have seen, all the JDMs seem to have the climate control version, then changed for early imports into the USA, and then changed back to the climate control units in later USA vehicles.

(Perhaps the USA had caught up with climate control technology by then.):p;):o
