View Full Version : Stock tires on wider than stock rims?

Has anyone here for whatever reason ever put a set of the stock 245/60-18 Bridgestone Duelers on a set of aftermarket 18" wheels that were 8" wide? I've seen that 8" wide rims are the widest width recommended for that size tire, so it will apparently work, so I'm just curious if anyone has pictures of what such a setup would actually look like.

Are you considering a wheel swap with stock tires? The wider the rim, the lower the sidewall height will be for the same tire. FWIW, I've always thought the stock rim and tire combination of the 18" chrome rims was a killer look, although a bit too "street" for some...I'm sure someone has pics and suggestions regarding your intended look. I'm curious to see the results.

I'm thinkin' you'd kind of be heading toward rubber band territory as the stock tire "stretches" to cover that extra inch, and flattens out the sidewall (as Scott said). Run it on "rims-n-tires.com" visualizer to help you with the visual.

Basically, it's not an intended look I'm going for, just a matter of curiosity for what's possible with what I have lying around. Thanks for the link Kat. I'll give it a try.
