Warning!! Some of the pics in this thread are shocking, painfull, horrific & grotesque. ;eeky;;eeky;;eeky; I bought a VX the other day. The transformation of this rig was already done. I posted a couple of pics in my gallery. Well today I put some 33" tires on it, that were in my basement. This rig still needs work. I got temp tags yesterday. The radiator is leaking. It is fun as hell to drive. The drive train is a 2001 dodge 1500 4x4. Welded to the vx frame. Remember I didn't create it. I need a few parts, help, & some love. Can I post pics in this thread?

Can I post pics in this thread?
Any pics you've uploaded to your gallery can be attached to posts here.
Look at the stuff on the right...below the 'smilies' where it says "My Pics"
Click the 'open' tab...and then click on pics in your gallery that you want
to show in this thread.
They will show as thumbnails, unless you remove the 'thumbs' part of the link script.
Hope that makes sense!

Not this coming year. :( There are a list of stuff to fix. It didn't come with a front driveshaft or even sunroof glass. I found a driveshaft, radiator & spare rim on Craig's list. I will try to get those today. All dodge parts. The driveshaft will probably have to be cut down & balanced. I need to do that to the rear one also. I think its too tight & never was balanced. Now back to the sunroof glass. Did Isuzu use that sunroof in other models ? Or is it a VX part only? Is there anybody on here in my general area? Akron, Cleveland Ohio

If the rear drive shaft feels to tight or out of balance, it's possible it just needs to be lubed at the grease fittings.
Now back to the sunroof glass. Did Isuzu use that sunroof in other models ? Or is it a VX part only? Is there anybody on here in my general area? Akron, Cleveland Ohio
Try looking through any receipts that may have come with the rig for more specific info, because sunroofs weren't offered stock in the VX, so it's most likely an aftermarket purchase...or from the sound of it...also quite possibly a Dodge sunroof out of some model vehicle from that brand since that's where all the other donor parts came from. I think your best bet for info on that one is going to be to talk to the previous owner again.

The engine compartment is a good place to start. I haven't done anything under the hood yet. It has been hacked up. Look at the wheel tubs. It has the dodge computer & radiator, plus the dodge 360. http://www.vehicross.info/gallery/data/500/thumbs/IMG_20131110_133208_313.jpg (http://www.vehicross.info/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=24250)http://www.vehicross.info/gallery/data/500/thumbs/IMG_20131110_133112_200.jpg (http://www.vehicross.info/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=24249)http://www.vehicross.info/gallery/data/500/thumbs/IMG_20131110_133039_269.jpg (http://www.vehicross.info/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=24248)

I have looked at dodge rear drive shafts they stick out 1&1/2" farther than mine. My sunroof looks very stock. I can take a pic. It's power and has a factory looking sun shade in the headliner
Well my dodge radiator is smaller than the full size one. So I'm still looking for that. I did get a spare dodge rim & the front drive shaft today. It needs to be cut down. But I sold the old tires for $175 on Craig's list today!:

Good chance the sunroof is a Hollander. Several have had them installed and they look factory.
One thing I would definately fix is getting some beefier suspension links made or at a minimum beefing up the ones on there (sleeving them). Especially if you plan on taking it off road...from the pics, the current ones look pretty anemic.

Yes, the rear will only get minimal provements. I need to cut the U-bolts down, so they don't hang down so far. I have to run some different emergency brake cables, they we're cut off. It also needs two hoses joined back up on the front of the gas tank. Anybody know where they go? Help!! :_thinking I can't get the pic out of my gallery. I even uploaded it again. My guess is they go to a plastic expansion tank some where.

I assume those may be the fuel return lines, so around the intake you may see some other cut hoses as well...? Or perhaps, near the engine, the return was just looped back in to the supply line somehow...? It is even possible this engine did not come with a fuel return line so the lines from the tank were disregarded.
I really hate the design of those shackle hangers! At the very least, I would make a brace of some sort to join them. Or preferably flip the shackles...? Not trying to get in your face; just ideas cuz I wouldn't trust them. :noy:

Zeus thanks for for your concern & input. The tank is my first project that needs fixed. I have a engine light on at the dash. The code comes back evap leak. Well I spotted this before I gave any money. This is it! I can't get real licence tags till I fix it. It also dumps fuel on the ground when I get gas. I thought it might have had a expansion tank that got eliminated when they dropped the tank to weld on the rear springs. So I will spend some time under it this weekend. The shackle hangers do needed more attention. But not till spring. Winter set in already and my garage is packed tight. I can pull one bronco out and back in vx to do a little work . But the other bronco needs to spend the winter in there. I need to post a pic of the 3rd bronco. It is very rare and special rig.

A GM radiator now? Keepin the Franken' franked, I see! :) If you create an account on AutoZone.com (http://www.autozone.com/autozone/) you gain access to a database which allows you to look up wiring diagrams & diagrams for several other systems in vehicles you specify. I have found it handy when attempting to combine wiring & drivetrain from a Sierra with an S-10. I'm not sure they have a VX on record but checking out the Dodge stuff might give you some clues to how it all started & would help you order parts down the road. :yeso:

OK, here is my junk yard score from yesterday. Oh joy! :dan_ban:http://www.vehicross.info/gallery/data/500/thumbs/IMG_20140220_144507_388.jpg (http://www.vehicross.info/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=24456)
OOH! That will be a big help. Did you already have the steering column shroud or was that not available?

I have good news! I will be installing my front drive shaft friday. I had it made. The cockpit looks a lot better also. I will try to upload pics again. Could take some work. I drive Frankenstein almost every day, what a rush! It's a big hit at all the car shows. I did my first burn out today, great fun!
Pics or it didn't happen... U know that. :P

I spent hours loving Frankenstein today. The front drive shaft is on and beautiful. I will go for some pics tomorrow. I have also figured out my wandering problem, keeping me from rolling over 45 mph. This will be my next project.

I took Frankenstein to the Dodge service dept. After a quick inspection of the front end, they figured out why it wants to wander a little. The front axle is tipped a little to forward, to make the drive line straight. So I have to roll it back, just a little, to take the wander out of it.

Cut and rotate the knuckles?

Maybe, I might be able to cut the Dodge upper control arms, and rework them. I don't like the way they were done.
How are you going to adjust that?

I just took a pic, but it's too large. I need to downsize it on my computer, then upload it. This might take me another day. Hang in there.

So I'm thinking cutting top arms loose at the crappy end. Do some cutting, box and weld it. The bottom arms look good. Its like dr.jekyll and Mr beer worked on it. Dr. Jekyll was pretty good till he started drinking beer! You can also see my new driveshaft in this pic.
