I did a search & didn't see what I was looking for. Does anyone know if the VX & Troopers have the same length torsion bars?

Jump on independent4x site. The trooper and VX have the same torsion bars. A few of us have the HD torsion bars, I love em.

Thanks! I know when you look up OEM torsion bars they are different. But I thought the dimensions were the same. The reason I'm asking is for down the road. When I put the Cummins in it I'm afraid the stock torsion bars won't hold the extra 3-400lbs plus give me the lift I want. So I was thinking the Trooper ones would help since it's a heavier vehicle.

Actually I "think" ours are stiffer...not 100% sure on that one though. The Indy4x hd would probably be a better bet. Or coilover ;)

Weight on 3.5l trooper and vx should be nearly identical in the front end.

We'll after doing some poking around the internet, it looks like Troopers are 500-550 lbs heavier than a VX. So stock trooper bars or the Independant4x ones should probably give me what I'm looking for. Thanks for the advise!

If you go with Indy, you'll need to order them 3-4 months in advance. They only have production runs a few times each year. They may have them in stock when you call but I'd hate to see your project put on hold if they're out.

I doubt if Trooper torsion bars are much heavier than VX, if at all. The Trooper was sprung rather softly from the factory as a soccer mom vehicle, whereas the VX was more of a rally vehicle and probably had stiffer springs. I don't have any hard data to back this up, but that is my speculation.

I would look at the aftermarket torsion bars, they are 20-30% stiffer than stock IIRC.

Yeah, I would say go for the HD T-bars. Although the Trooper is heavier, even the anti-sway bars are not as stout as what is in the stock VX. My understanding is that the HD T-bars were developed to handle a winch & heavy bumper on Troopers so that is probably your best bet for your upcoming setup.

PLUS!!! The HD torsion bars will give you 0.05% increase in throttle response.

^^^ABSOLUTELY!! .07% increase if your VX is yellow!

That extra weight in a trooper is overall, not in the front end. There is no real reason the front of a 3.5L trooper is any significant amount heavier than a VX. Same engine, same front suspension, maybe a little more front bumper and sheet metal, but other than that, notta. Go with the HD torsion bars, I guess I got lucky and they were in stock, got them right away! I love em.
