Can anyone recommend a good mechanic in the Denver area?
I need to do some routine maintenance, i.e. tranny, diffs, wheel bearings, etc. I will also be due very soon for a new timing belt.
I need to find someone who is good, trustworthy and reasonably affordable.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

I keep seeing this guy's ad in CL. He sounds like a good one to try but I have no personal experience with him.

I met Bob in Castle Rock and he was a great guy. He told me about a place that he used and was very satisfied with their work. Seems they really like Isuzus and have a few trained techs in their shop.

Here is the information that he sent me:

This is Bob from Castle Rock. I have the Kaiser silver VehiCross. We met up in the Outlet Mall parking lot. Sorry I didn't contact you earlier. I misplaced your info.

I had the timing belt replaced at Antero Automotive and Truck. Their phone number is (303) 708-8855. http://anteroautomotiveandtruck.com/. They did a great job and give a two year warranty on their work. I recommend them for any work.

Also, Tynans VW was the old Isuzu and the mechanic that did all their work on the VX is still there...be warned they are pricey...$1K for the timing belt change is what they quoted me last year.

I had my timing belt done at Walker Transmissions. They did a great job, are very honest, and it cost me under $700. I found them when I first got my VX as I wanted the transmission fluid changed and the transmission inspected. They did that and a couple other minor adjustments for about $300 (and told me the tranny looked to be in fantastic shape). They do any engine/drivetrain work, not just transmissions. Mine was the third VX they have worked on.

I worked with Tony both times. Great guy.

Disclaimer: I am not related to the Walker that owns the place. Although we did chat about both originally coming from England. So...I guess maybe somewhere in the distant past we are? ;-)

There's still a 'factory' shop at 104th and Federalish, and they'd taken good care of me in the past. However, my last experience with them really pissed me off. They went to replace the license plate lights, but while trying to free up the screws, they put a nice 3" gouge in the paint. The kind of neglected to mention that. It appears that they glued the lens back in, and the thing that really brings it all together is that they replaced ONE of the two lights... but they apparently replaced the wrong one.

Yep,.that is Tynans VW now...they told me I needed all new rotors because of the surface rust on the hubs...
