Attended Battlefest at the Superlift ORV park in Hot Springs, AR this past weekend. It was fun to see just how much money some people can put into an off-roading hobby, though some were corporate sponsored. Spent the rest of the time wheeling with my younger brother and his Jeep. Though there were some serious rigs abounding, I couldn't drive by any group without the entire attention being given to my VX. To at least one guys credit, he yelled out "Awesome Vehicross!" as I approached. I was surprised that anyone recognized it for what it was. He even said I always wanted one since he first saw it and then dreamed of doing what I did (to make it off-road capable). Here are some pics and links to what I've gathered so far.

Can't make Moab anymore, kids are of the age where missing school is detrimental so close to their final tests. I had previously attended 3 of them back when I had my white 98 Trooper, alas the kids were pre-school back then.

The AR Crawlers are actually wheeling in my proverbial back yard at SMORR this weekend, but have to work and be on-call. Sucks!

Hopefully I will add a few more pics and vids in the next week or so. That reminds me, I want to apologize for the "creaking". The springs were extremely dirty from mud and road salt, and even the front office didn't have any lubricant spray. Did make a trip to get some that first night, and sprayed it down the next morning. Sounded much better and was almost noise free by leaving at noon. Anyone got any experience coating their springs/buckets? I'm thinking about either undercoating spray or spray-in bedliner. Ideas?

It looks like you can pull 2 or 3 jeeps! Is it hard to see over hood climbing big hills? I love your rig.

Yeah, it is hard to see over the hood, but that was the same problem when I was wheeling my 98 Trooper. It didn't help that I had never been on those trails before and was always the first in line. Physics and geometry can only be overcame to a point. Even without the hood itself, the engine takes up almost every inch of the bay, side to side and top to bottom (and then some).

The worst part is the sudden impacts side-to-side! I bang my head on the top of the door jamb entirely too much.:madb: Thinking about wearing a helmet and gluing some padding up there.
