Is that supposed to be a good price? I never pay that much for it at Wally World.

I always buy it by the case at Costco when they have the $5 off coupon :)

Pennzoil Ultra Synthetic is supposed to be better than Mobil 1 and it costs $25 for a 5 qt jug at Wal-Mart (and that's an everyday price, not a sale). They sell the individual quarts for $9 each so I just pour the jug into quart containers and get them for $5 each. :)

My Walmart is selling the jugs of Mobil 1 for $26 but the quarts for $7.75.

Pennzoil Ultra Synthetic is supposed to be better than Mobil 1...
Is that based on a recent test somewhere?

so is Castrol Edge if you listen to the ad's. There all good. comes down to which one do you like, GM/MOPAR/FOMOCO as an example, or maybe none:)

Here are a few actual quantitative analyses of both oils based on real world driving:

Acura TSX owner oil analysis comparison:
http://www.tsxclub.com/forums/1st-gen-car-care/61660-results-mobil-1-ep-v-pennzoil-ultra.html

Dodge/SRT switched from Mobil 1 to Pennzoil Ultra a few years ago:
http://www.challengertalk.com/forums/f170/pennzoil-ultra-vs-mobil-1-my-opinion-89831/#post1220532

There are more out there, just Google it. I've yet to find a quantitative analysis that shows Mobil 1 as superior to Pennzoil Ultra. Close/same, but not better.

This is true AS LONG AS you're "overkilling" on your change interval. If you do the Google search above there are certainly die hard devotees of both, but in reality if you're changing your oil every 3000 miles they're probably nearly identical. But stretch that change interval out to say 7500 or 10000 miles and one might very well be better than the others. Not that I would ever wait that long between changes, just saying...
