I'm looking for a proportioning valve for my 2000 vehicross. All I can find are universal proportioning valves. The reviews for these products are pretty bad. I've searched and searched but no luck. Does anyone know where I can find an oem or aftermarket proportioning valve that is a good match for the vehicross?

Thanks in advance!

That's not usually a part that has to be replaced. Mind if I ask what happened to yours? I'll poke around and see if perhaps we share the part with a Trooper or Rodeo.

It's part of the braking system. It regulates 60% of the braking to the front & 40% to the rear (or some numbers close to that).

& yes, it should still be on your donor vehicle unless the brake lines were already pulled.

I have a previous post about the VX I bought at auction with contaminated brakes. Turns out the previous owner dumped power steering fluid in the brake system, and then donated the "running" VX to a charity auction. No telling how much the car has been driven. I've put 7 total miles on the since I've had it (road testing). Not good...

It's been confirmed that brake system is wrecked. Apparently this happens all the time and the result is always the same: a destroyed brake system and thousands in repairs. If you go cheap and not replace everything effected then you run the risk of a major brake failure.

A brake shop quoted about $3k to replace the system. I've found parts for $350 and mechanic for $400. I just need a working P&B valve (proportioning valve). I'm not sure the rules about buying and selling but I'd be interested in buying a donor P&B valve. The P&B valve is the directly below the master cylinder. It has to hard lines coming in and two going out.

I'm replacing the hoses, calipers, wheel cylinders, master cylinder, and hopefully the P&B valve. Kind of bad time though because I just bought two 600 lbs commercial refrigerated lobster tanks and a pallet of commercial air filters as a project. The wife "loves" what I've done with the garage...

It's been confirmed that brake system is wrecked.

Sorry to hear that. Best of luck with getting it all fixed up.

I have to admit that I'm kind of surprised that power steering fluid will do that much damage to the brake system since they are both just different kinds of hydraulic fluid. Other than potentially attacking the seals, I wouldn't have expected that much damage.
