I like the last one, can you change the bronze color to saphire blue, and the grey to platinum?

That's the idea, more ice to blue flames, high tech, tribal flames, cracks, etc. (remember the interior is blue), your on the right path, whenever you get the time.

Maybe we can have a vote on the forum, a little group participation.

Thanks,
Rick

How 'bout zebra stripes? Always wondered what they'd look like on the VX.;eeky;

How about this one, just exchange bronze for blue, and grey with platinum, and add tribal flames.

Cyrk, could you maybe incorporate this color,
http://www.vehicross.info/gallery/data/500/31tang.jpg
and maybe a red with platinum (migh look really nice)

Cyrk

Looks good, but maybe fade into black instead of platinum. And that flame by the Vehicross badge looks out of place, I would just have that black.

Could you possibly do the front pretty red and fade into the tang color then maybe a proton yellow tip of the flames, on top of black? That would look cool!

Cyrk
11/18/2003, 01:20 PM
will do that when I get some time...

One thing that would be cool would be to have the front yellow flames be the tang color.

Hey Cyrk,
WOW;eeky; I bow before you! If I had known that you were that good with Photoshop I would have asked you to do up something like that for me a long time ago. That is diffently off the scale, chart and meter. It is so far off that nothning can discribe of for it is. If there was a shop up here in new england that could pull off anything like that I would be there in a heart beat! I'm in diffent awe of the different ideas. Hey Rick if it were me I right now I would be in the looney bin for having to pick 1. Good luck with the choices. Please keep us updated on what you do.

I'm leaning towards the last one, however, http://www.vehicross.info/gallery/data/500/39rickvx5.jpg looks good too.

thx Rick for your fast response, do yo have any pics w,\ the newer tires? Did you have to do any clad cutting?

Rickster
11/19/2003, 02:38 PM
Have the color fade from bottom of the VX to the top:

Black to kaiser.

Tribal flames from front to back like this truck, but all the way to the rear of the VX:

http://www.pagerize.com/22159_b.jpg

Tribal, solid across front end like the truck, going back, medium saphire blue, with brushed aluminum border.

Specific enough?

Hope you understand,

Rick

The fenders had to be cut about a quarter of an inch for the Goodyear 295/50/20's, the Toyo 295/45/20's are actually smaller diameter, and are closer to the original stock size.

if anything, it lets us dream a bit

<waiting impatiently>

Final decision:

Kameleon blue, that flips the spectrum to red, on all the cladding and hood insert, custom half moon, mirrors, everything else that is black, and the brake rotors. Calipers will be red.

3 face pearl (4 coats of each, blue, red, violet) on Kaiser silver for the rest of the truck, "so shiney that it will look wet", and Kameleon tribal flames on the Kaiser to match the cladding.

I'll post pics as soon as it is finished.

Sounds BEAUTIFUL! - can't wait to see pictures. Do you have any problem with the paint on the cladding chipping or peeling? If not, could you ask your shop how they prepped it? Thanks!

Rickster
12/10/2003, 08:30 AM
The process is really easy, just rough up the cladding, paint first with a adhesion promoter, prime and paint.

I have had my cladding painted since day one, back in 2001, and have had no problem at all.

Stop worrying, and just get it done, it takes the VX to a whole different level. Painted cladding is probably the most impressive mod I've done.

So what color should I get my cladding painted?

red or black. Red might look really good or?

I like my cladding unpainted. Shiny would ruin everything. That and the way I treat it, paint wouldn't be shiny for long anyway. :)

I'm with Daver, there is something about the GLOSSY clading that just doesn't look right, besides I love not having to worry about PARKING LOT dings or scratches.;) to each his own

I think I would go with charcoal metallic, just enough to accesnt the VX

Maybe do a reverse, Kaiser silver Cladding, black VX

Dam Cyrk you're good at that, nice eye candy but my astrial silver has never looked so plain;) I've always wondered what a "PANEL" (without rear side windows) VX would look like.

Rickster - I'm not worrying - I just want to make sure it is done right. The first shop I took it to said "No Way - it will peel/chip because of the oils in the molds" That's why I asked if you had that problem and how it was done. I want to paint mine, just trying to decide the color and justify the $$ since I don'e have a "sponsor" (you don't have an extra one in the wings do you??)

Rickster
12/10/2003, 04:32 PM
No, but I can check to see what kind of special deal they would cut for fellow VX'ers.

If it is done properly, the paint adheres to the plastic, just like paint adheres to metal.

All newer cars have plastic painted bumpers, the adhesion promoter removes oils and contaminates, and opens the pores in the plastic for a solid bond.

I think all the painted cladding and Line-X'd cladding is really cool. I always wanted a cool paint job for mine, too, but so far that hasn't happened. It wouldn't include the cladding though. ;)

Can't wait to see the results of Rickster's new paint job. :) Cyrk's protos were very cool.

Bantan, go for either silver or the closest color to chrome. Your ride is super as is, but can you imagine that it might possibly look better!? If not just leave it as is, for it is out of sight just the way it is....Bruce
