Simple Lifting

Hey,

One question to all of you guys:

I have Japanese Version VX and wanna lift it but with some simple ways, like pushing below the spring or whatever. I don't wanna use heavy lifting kit, so can you suggest any methods apart from tires/rims?

The most common approach to lifting is to install replacement rear coil springs for the lift in the rear & simply crank down on the torsion bars for the lift on the front.

It is easily accomplished in your driveway with simple hand tools & a jack. I had to actually use 2 jacks when replacing my coils springs (one to lift the vehicle & the other to flex the suspension enough to remove the spring).

These coils will give you about 3" of lift (also available from Rocky Road Outfitters).

There have also been some members who have used coil spacers rather than replacing the springs themselves ... but your springs are 15 years old so it would probably be a better option to replace/upgrade (just my $0.02)

Thank you, really helpful tips. But will this affect shocks? they will not be in normal position right?

Vaso, the shocks should be in the normal position, but it does extend them a bit. If you have stock shocks there is enough travel in them to handle the lift. When I lifted mine (more precisely when Jo, Dub and Jay lifted mine) I did notice a little difference in the handling. Obviously you're sitting a little higher off of the ground so your center of gravity is a little higher so the VX wants to roll a little bit more in hard cornering. I also noticed a bit of dive under hard braking with the lift (I initially kept the stock shocks on), but not anything scary.

Independent 4X4 sells coil spacers if you would rather do that instead of getting new springs. http://www.independent4x.com/Isuzu-Bushings-Polyurethane-_c_32.html I have a set of their 2" spacers and a set of taller springs (not installed together).
