HI, so I have a question. One of the inner CV Boot has slipped off, and is allowing grease to come out of the joint. The boot itself looks fine. Would I be able to get away with just tring to add a new large band to secure it, or should I take it apart, clean everything out, and add a new boot? I feel like the right thing to do would be to add a new one, but it would save me a lot of time to just put on a new band. And could a hose clamp work as a band?

hoseclamp would not be good becuase of the thickness of the tightener and how the cv rotates.

Some use HD Zip ties, some use a real band with banding tool.

I would say if the boot is good, save yourself the trouble for now and just clean it out, put fresh grease in and close it up.

use the search function to search ("CV Boots") you'll get plenty of info on the subject.

X2 what Jamas says

Hose clamp wont sit in groove... HD zip tie works well, and much easier than banding.

Good clean out, re-pack..re-fit boot.

If down the line you hear noises..THEN do a CV/half shaft change.
