anyone tried this bull bar on the VX? also wondering if Tone's custom brackets for the light bar work for this?

you would not want those brackets from the Safari Bar to use on a Bull bar...they probably not hold up to the task of a Bull Bar's use.

Bull bar dimensions are significantly different than the Safari bar and I think is proportionately too large a tube for the lines of the VX. Brackets to fully support that size bar and to make it functional could be made but would lessen front end clearance and my require some cutting of the cladding. But if you want it, send me a Bull bar and I'll have brackets made up.

It is my understanding that the Bull Bars by Westin are sized up for a Ford F-250/350 sized trucks for example while the Safari Bar is more in tune to say a Ford Ranger (small) sized vehicle.

By all means post a pic if you go through with using a Bull Bar!

I always wondered if the Westin Safari bar that fits the VX with Tones brackets is the model # for a Ford Ranger??? If so, wouldn't other guards for said vehicle (Ranger??) fit the VX with Tone's brackets if they anchor at the same point? I'd heard someone at this site say they saw a VX with a full-face grille guard (Westin..I think) that looked good.

Personally, I wish I could put something on mine that is more like the Australian built products (for deflecting kangaroos!) that seem much more durable than the bicycle-like-tubing-for-looks we get outta companys here. My '95 Jeep Grand Cherokee had a Smittybuilt full-face grille guard that didn't hold up real well against a 9-point Buck, although, it didn't help that the Jeep was a unibody with no frame rails either!

So it is possible that other bars designed for those vehicles would fit ours the most easily but still need to at least put one up to a VX to see how close it comes to the frame rails where the Safari bar brackets I offer attach.

so the bull might be too big for the VX, but the light bar looks a little bit small and not that strong, tough choice. well, my 2 cents.

Safari bar is just a bit on the small side (stronger than it looks s I’ve bumped a few vehicles and not bent it) but it blends in with the VX lines better than the alternative....
