I just want to say how much I appreciate and enjoy this family of VX owners.
I recently bought a Nissan 350Z, so naturally I threw myself into fan groups and Facebook pages for that particular ride...for the obvious reasons of learning about mods, maybe making some friends, etc. Let me tell you something, Z owners are the most childish, rudest, immature, and insulting people I've ever met in my life. There's no learning about new mods...they tease and mock and insult me because I'm new to the community and don't already know about mods. Oh, and I'm a girl on top of that...which is apparently a mortal sin if you're a Z owner. I wanted so badly to fit in and maybe find some local people to cruise with (since that's outta the question with the VX)....but they're so mean! It's like a group of young pricks who think a girl shouldn't and couldn't drive a stick-shift 6-speed wanna-be race car!!!!
After getting my feelings hurt, I always end up here, licking my wounds, surrounded by my VX family....this place always makes it better.
Of course, the initial introduction to Jo was kinda similar...ya'll know what I mean, he sorta has diarrhea of the mouth, uses big words, and makes people feel about 2 inches tall when there's a disagreement. But I'll stand in his corner ANY day of the week (as long as it's not political :) )...and Dub, well, his corner better have a place for me too!
I know this is a ridiculous rant....but I still thought ya'll should know how much I appreciate having this place to go when my feelers get hurt by the Z community. I've only met a couple of you in person, but this family feels like home.
Thanks guys

I'm with you on this. I used to frequent a Ducati Monster forum regularly until it turned into douche bag central. And once you get a chance to meet Jo and Dub in person then you won't feel bad about talking trash to and about them. :) We all have our quirks but this is a great group of folks!

Oh, and I never even bothered with joining a WRX forum. No thanks, I'll pass.

I had a 350z a few years ago and was excited to join the Z forum community. It seemed like no one cared to acknowledge me because I didn't have $3k in rims and a lowering kit. I maybe posted 20 times before bailing on the site and never visiting again. It's interesting that you experienced the same thing. The Isuzu crew (here and the planet) have always been more welcoming and helpful than any other forum I've ever been involved in... and the Z forum was BY FAR the worst.
Great post!

Story never gets old, no matter how many times I hear it or experience it for myself. This is the most rewarding vehicle-specific owners' forum I've ever seen. And like many other members here, I've seen quite a few.
Sorry you fell victim to that crap. Don't let those d-bags get you down about it. It's still a halfway decent car. ;)

Kat - obviously you've never owned a BMW from the 80's and tried to fit into that community! The E30's are the new "ricers" and have absolutely no respect for anyone over 28!
Other than this group, one of the best forums/ groups I was ever a part of was the Porsche 914 community. We were outcast from all of the "real" Porsche owners groups (911's) and so we all hung together and never took ourselves seriously. In fact, the last 914/6 I owned was nicknamed "the turd" because it was a brownish paint job that the previous owner had never clear coated.
It's encouraging to buy a vehicle as weird and on the fringe as the VX and then find out that there are others like you that are 15 degrees from normal. I'm really hoping to be able to make it to Moab just to meet you all.

Ditto everything above! I can't get anywhere on some other forums I've joined. Just don't understand why it's SOOOOOOO different. :_thinking
It must have something to do with the very small production numbers and relatively small number of forum members. (But that doesn't hold true on the planet...so I have no idea! :_thinking)
I'm always blown away when I see like 500+ others online at the same time on some of the forums I've joined....500+ :freek: Just one among the masses, but that doesn't explain the rudeness etc...
I've had better luck on a Polaris atv site. Been really helpful, some posted some pics to help me on a mod I was doing. Was quite surprised actually. But again, there's far fewer members on that forum, and even fewer online.....similar characteristics to the vx forum.
Jo's right, you've GOT to come to Moab and meet the gang! We're TRULY, like NO other! "We're a whole nutter country!"

That one hits pretty close with me too since I've always been a fan of the 928. That's not saying all Porsche owners are the picture of maturity as I've had a few of those owners prove that their idea of the truth when it came to selling their stuff required a somewhat high degree of elasticity and investigation (we'll just say that some of them take the phrase caveat emptor to new heights).
I don't think it matters what vehicle/forum/group we're talking about though. There will always be those group members who think that being there first, or being the most active forum member, or throwing the most money at their vehicle, or being in the right forum clique...somehow means that everyone else should automatically defer to them...and that's where the fun usually starts. ;)
If that attitude were somehow unique to any particular vehicle forum it would be one thing, but it's not, so that basically makes those forum members the same as something like the modern-day "rugged individualist" Jeep or Ford F-150 owner, or "high-performance" BMW/Mustang/Camaro street warrior...a dime a dozen...who usually ALSO take themselves too seriously.

I've been a member of several forums (Fairlane Club of America, Lincoln Mark VIII, Honda S2000, and most recently the Honda NC700 motorcycle forum.) I would say that the Lincoln forum was the most enjoyable experience, next to the VX forum. Again, a very small and dedicated group. Lots of vehicle quirks, and common mods (wheel/tire, engine, suspension.) I really liked my '98 Lincoln Mark VIII LSC Collectors Edition, but traded it in on my new VX in 2001. I think I've read every post on this forum (except when it goes political or personal :() and forgotten more here than I ever learned on all the other forums combined! And no other forum could talk me into taking my vehicle through three feet of water and mud!! :bwgy:

I have by far had the best online experience with members here. The Corvette forum is actually not too bad either. And I found some pretty cool people on the RX-8 forum, but still those experiences pale in comparison to the family atmosphere here at VX.info. We do really have father figures, mom fill ins, older brothers, and youngest sibling types here. Very entertaining unique group, I am proud to be a small part of the awesome community here :-)

DITTO! This forum is THE best. In my first week here I met VX Kat and she was a wealth of information and from there it's been more than I ever expected. Earlycj5 site is close but not as personal and caring. Thanks to all and VXobession you hit the head on the nail!

I am with all of you on this. I am getting ready to buy another vehicle and I lurk on other forums to find info on cars. I don't mind a joke or two but why do people have to get so rude? I think we have a good moderator that needs to be recognized as well as the members. I was just on the Acura RDX forum and they need a moderator to throw a few bad apples out, because in between the bull**** there is some great information.

Wow, I was on that forum too if you're talking acurazine.com (user name RDX KAT ...imagine that :rollo:)
I had about 7 or so real posts, but when I listed my rims and tires for sale in October...OMFG, I got interogated by the moderator.
http://acurazine.com/forums/car-parts-sale-361/tsw-brookland-rims-18-x-8-5-43-without-cooper-zeon-xst-255-55-18-a-919326/
While I understand the need to be cautious with any newer member posting for sale listings, the tone of it was pretty harsh. They even had requirements for specific photos.
I think the numerous exchanges (posts) definitely turned any potential buyers away!
I sold them on craigslist locally.
