Well, after 4 years (and seemingly out of the blue) My 2000 Dragon has thrown a rod. Fired her up, stepped on the gas, absolutely horrible noise, and now a giant hole in the bottom pan, pouring out oil.
I will be replacing the engine, and was wondering if anyone knows of a good used engine somewhere, or if anyone has any experience with the remanufactured engines on Ebay.
I want to go stock, not looking for all of the work associated with a swap and just need some advice.
Please help! Craig

Sorry to hear it.
You're looking for a 6VE1 engine, without DFI. I got mine from Barnette's (https://www.barnettesengines.com/uploads/Isuzu_PDF_2014.pdf) a few years ago. Has zero issues. Took them a while to source it but in the end it was worth it. They also pop up from time to time on eBay.
Good luck.

Hi Crasca,
Saw this a couple of days ago on eBay and still available.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Reman-3-5-Isuzu-98-02-DOHC-Trooper-Long-Block-Engine-/391080738374?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Make%3AIsuzu|Model%3AVehiCROSS&hash=item5b0e3a7e46&vxp=mtr
Good description of what they do in a Re-man.
Hope this helps,
Jayd-S
How many miles were on your Dragon, and was it devouring oil?

I've got an '01 Ebony with 40K miles that's doesn't need its engine or transmission if you'd like to make an offer and a FL visit. I can have it out and on a pallet in short order.

I find it that you can locate a complete parts cars (usually Troopers) for less money than junk yards are asking for just the engine… But I realize that parting out cars is not for everyone…
