Ever since I bought my VX a couple of years ago, all I read was that nothing except the OEM Yaks would fit those mounts. I decided yesterday to go check out the local roof rack store and, after trying a number of different fit kits, we found one that actually works! :yeso:

The important part is: Fit Kit #4002 Audi Q7, 06

Other parts in set up: 480R Rapid Traverse Foot Pack, ARB47B AeroBlade Bars

It definitely wasn't cheap, but I finally have racks!

There have been several people who have pieced together some aftermarket racks, some looked better than others, but that has got to be the nicest looking one I've seen.

These are the prices I found on Amazon.com

Fit Kit #4002 '06 Audi Q7: $75.89
480R Rapid Traverse Foot Pack: $158.95
ARB47B AeroBlade Bars: $142.95
TOTAL: $377.79

Thule 544 Lock Cylinders: $46.95 (for that extra security, piece of mind)

@Kaena Point what length AeroBlade Bars did you end up using?

That's not too bad. But if I was selling my Yaks (I'm not, at the moment anyway) I'd ask $200. Might ask more now! ;)

Yep, that's it. TBH, it cost me a bit more. I knew I could prob get it online cheaper but wanted to support this guy's business cause he went through the trouble of finding a solution for me. I have the 47" blades. We tried the 53" on as well and they looked a bit wide. They would've also needed to be modified cause the track under the blades didn't line up with where the feet needed to connect (the track needed to be cut further down the blade).

All in all, after a little buyer's remorse, I'm satisfied with the purchase. They look awesome, I could carry 2 freakin kayaks up there if I wanted, and selling my baby should be easier if that day should ever come.

Cheers to you all! :_beer:

According to Thule, the 4002 fit kit will only work with the 460 & 460R Footpack.
You posted that you used the 480R Foot Pack, is that accurate? I don't have a stocking Thule dealer in my area so I have to order online and want to make sure I order the correct one. Thanks.
