Hey guys, does anyone know of a good wind fairing that will bolt right on to the Yakima crossbars? Just looking for some opinions from folks who have one. I have not been running my rack on my VX and the wind noise is just so damn annoying on the highway. The Yakima ones I see online confuse me. I see how they bolt to the crossbars, but how do they attach at the front? Are their suction cups or something?

I had a Thule that worked great for many years. Eventually dry rotted out and got brittle. Mid Atlantic... you know how it is. Anyways, worked great but can't recall the size. I'm sure a solid search here will reveal that detail.

Thanks, Gary, so was it something like this: http://trekbicyclestores.com/product/thule-fairing-65181-1.htm?variations=31776&gclid=CM2uz4Gz-ccCFU-AaQod7TYOcA
It looks like it just sits on pads in the front?

Exactly that. Worked great while I had it. Cut down the wind noise drastically. It sat on pads that will not harm your paint. Sizing may or may not be important to you. Mine was a tad wider than it probably should have been cause the ends sat on the roof rails a bit and rubbed some finish off over time. Nothing to cry home about though.

Edge of the cross bar is 36.5" and the inside dimension rail to rail is 32.5"

Almost all availability that I've found is either 32" or 38". You'll have to decide if you want it resting between the rails on on top of them with some overhang to the edge of the roof line.
I'd probably go with the 38" and pad the resting place on the rails to prevent wear.

Thanks for the info. I will let you guys know what I decide. I might make something myself too....

Thule 871 38" Wind Fairing is the one I had purchased and installed years ago. Fits perfectly up there and looks nice... If you do not want the "THULE" logo to be visible, when you put the fairing together, you can flip it so its on the inside and not visible. Unfortunately, I can't find any photos of it when I had it.

Anyone ever modded one from a Frontier/Xterra? Just curious.
