So I took #1032, aka "the Earthbound Traveler", on a road trip. Made it from DFW to Orlando to Atlanta and all but 106 miles home. On I20 between the two Tyler exits, the oil light pops on, I hear trouble in the engine, and before I can get over to the shoulder...BOOM. Blew out the bottom, oil everywhere, total carnage! I made it off the interstate to an exit with nothing but a small crossroad. Insurance covers towing up to 100 miles (and yes, they did make me pay for the other 6 miles @ $5/mile), but I threw the driver twice that because he let my dog ride in the cab with us.

So, another $6447 later, she's got a refurbished engine with all the trimmings and a 2 yr/24,000 mile warranty. Good thing I paid extra for a low-mile example last April! Almost ready to turn 64,000 with a new lease on life. Heading to COTA this weekend for the Pirelli World Championships. It'll be nice to get her out into some camping again. http://www.vehicross.info/gallery/data/500/thumbs/IMG_20160210_152259.jpg ('http://www.vehicross.info/gallery/data/500/IMG_20160210_152259.jpg') http://www.vehicross.info/gallery/data/500/thumbs/IMG_20160301_101846.jpg ('http://www.vehicross.info/gallery/data/500/IMG_20160301_101846.jpg')

Hope her transplant lasts for a long time. How many miles did her old heart have?

Mine seized up right at 60k a few months ago. Got an axiom engine put in. Hopefully it will keep going for a while!

You know, you can't let the dip stick show much less than a quarter stick or you're flirting with disaster. Keep an eye on it. We have two '99's in daily use:one is 113k, the other 172k. I check those sticks every other day. One day they are fine and it can go for two weeks that way and then suddenly only a quarter stick remaining. There is no set pattern. Take no chances.
