My RS9000XL rear shocks (RS999215) are currently installed upside down (adjustment knob on the top of the shock) on my vehicle. Talking to Rancho, they indicated to me that the shocks need to be mounted with the adjustment knob on the bottom of the shock. Rancho states that upside down installation of the RS9000XL can allow a bubble to form in the shock affecting shock response.

So, going to flip the shocks I find that the bushings/sleeve combo on each end of the shock only allows mounting upside down (as currently mounted). How have others addressed this issue?

I had that issue and you have to switch the bushings in the shocks.

I had mine installed at a shop but they told me that this is what they had to do.

Ah, that's helpful. I'm concerned with them shattering when pressed out. No issues with that I take it?

My shop was able to do it...not sure what special tools they may have.

Great, talked to Rancho again. Rancho reaffirmed the shock cannot be mounted upside down and is 'useless' in that configuration. Appears only the larger bushing assembly is available as part RS984.
