Moab 2017... Too early ?? !! Nope..not really :)
I talked with Sharon at the Apache, and she has blocked out rooms 16,17,18 & 19 on the lower 'stoop' area...
....and the same above on the second floor.
This will avoid the issues we had this year with non ZuZoo people in the middle of the "stoop" .
For those that know they are going, please call her and grab one of these rooms.
Consensus was that May 13th - 21st would be the dates.
Cheers ..Jo
I'm there in spirit. In person, I'm out. I expect I'll be back in the same location I am now--during that timeframe. Damn shame I can't bring my VX with me. It'd be a blast to drive over here.

I am starting to think about Moab and thought I would bump this thread so people can start making plans and reservation before all the places book up for the week we are going.

Heya Craig
This sounds like fun. Is event registration still open?
No official registration required... not an "official" Isuzu event ( anymore ).
Come join, just find/book a place to lay your head...and enjoy .
Everything from mild to wild trails..stock to highly modified...and many non isuzu / ex VX'ers too.
Cheers

Registration for Jeeps is $50 and is a extra fee for asking this question.
See you in Moab Craig, I do love playing follow the Rubicon, it make me feel like I am getting good at difficult trails.

Would it be ok to bring a Honda Ridgeline?

If you want to bring a Ridgeline that would be ok, I am sure no one would laugh their asses off if you pulled up in one. :fyi::dan_ban::_beer:

As long as it has a train horn it should be OK.

I was looking at trails in Moab that do not allow ATVs and I see there is a trail in Arches that looks interesting and wondered if any one has done the Cache Valley trail.

I've done it. It was a lot of dust and not challenging and not especially scenic.

I was hoping it was more interesting and would have good scenery. I guess we will just plan some trails when we get to Moab. We are doing Rimrocker overland trail on the way to Moab if you are interested in joining us. So far it is me, Kevin and Trooper Dave, Jay and Scott say they might join us but ave not confirmed.
We plan to meet in Montrose on 5/10 to start the trail to Moab. If anyone wants to join us.

Craig, according to Trail Damage the Cache Valley trail is rated at a 7-8 difficulty level so I thinking of doing it just to see what is over there and to confirm or deny the rating they gave it.
I am thinking Craig says it is boring might not want to take this trail because of Limo Hill named for the long Rubicon and the trouble some of them have climbing it. I figure you have the sweet set up and can tackle it with not problem, but I would to see how the VX compare in this trial, if you are open to giving the trail a shot and see how it measures to the rating that is posted about it. The trail report says it has challenges and great scenery, I think I will have to put on the list to try this year. Check out the trail report and let us know if anyone wants to give it t shot.
Quote the trail damage site about the trail.
"There is a steep climb on loose rocks to get to Limo Wall, a tall slickrock ledge covered with sand. This is the main obstacle, and it will give most vehicles some trouble. It is named after the "limo," the 4-door Jeep Wrangler Rubicon in its stock form. It looks a bit like a stretch limo compared to other Wranglers, and the nickname is well known. The limo will have to work at this obstacle, and it may get turned away. Some rock stacking may be necessary, and there is nothing to winch to from here.

We plan on trying it just to see how it is, even if we have to go alone.

I've never been on this trail. I was thinking of the other trail that is within the park. Let's do it.

Steve posted what looks like a better place for the stoop and after this year I think the Apache might not be the ideal place for the stoop.
I like the idea of moving the stoop to the Kokopelli Lodge, we could rent the whole place and have our own area.
