About to see the curtain drop on the new Ascent. Pretty exciting seeing Subie taking a shot in the large scale SUV ring. From what they are showing so far, I'm a fan.

A snippet I read yesterday boasted of a 2.4L direct injection turbo (FB25DIT?) married up to an 8spd CVT. Seems kinda small for a large SUV, but considering the power output from my 2.0L turbocharged (FA20DIT) Forester (FXT), I am pretty sure it is more than enough (given the CVT has been tweaked for a larger, heavier hauler). I mean, stock, my '18 FXT was 250hp, 0-60: 6 secs (after some work.... unsure now ;) ).

Makes me stop and wonder, is this 2.4 gonna be the mainline for the future USDM STi? I believe its already been toyed with in the JDM. They use the FA20DIT now, but with upgraded internals and tune.

Anyways, it's got me giddy. My S/C'd VX loves sharing the driveway with other zippy projects. ;)

It will be interesting to see if the Subaru fans will follow them to such a large vehicle. With the success of the Forster I think that they will.

I think there is a good chance Subaru enthusiasts will rally behind the Ascent. Subaru tried and failed with the Tribeca years ago, but that was also sinfully ugly.

I personally am excited to see what comes out of the modding community with it. We will see what after market manufacturers and tuners decide to do, if they decide to do anything at all. Sure am hoping they embrace this new addition since Subaru has been kinda flat for a while....

That engine has me excited though. Already hearing tuner talk. Yeah, a bit odd that it is a 4banger in something the size of a Durango, so that little heart must be packing some crazy mojo that anyone has yet to see.

Still, can't wait to see what tuner gets it pulling 0-60 in 4's, just before tearing up the CVT, heh.

I would rather a 3.5L ecoboost. If ford could put that in a 2-door SUV, I'd be handing them money.

A two-door Ford SUV? I like that idea. When's the new Ascent hitting the market by the way? It doesn't say it in the article or maybe I've just missed it.
