I'm trying to determine the actual lift on my new VX. Is there a stock low miler out there that can measure from ground to highest point of the lip of the cladding? I'm seeing about 37-1/2" at all 4 corners.
Thanks

Thanks to all for the responses.
I suspected that the VX had some rake angle to it from the factory. I guess this confirms it. Mine is currently 37-1/2' all around. This info indicates that I may have 4-1/2" of lift on the front? :eek:
I'm considering dropping the front a little to alleviate some stress that might be on the CV joints. Probably affecting the handling also.
Anyone else care to chime in with front and rear measurements?

:?: Do all lifts put extra stress on CV's?

A body lift doesn't. You should concider the pro's and con's of each method before taking a decision. DO a search in the forum about lifts and you will find a lot of information

Once you go more than about 1-1/2 inches, I'd say yes. I base this on the travel that might be normally encountered while driving. That and the fact that you can usually tweak most things auto-related 5-10% without doing much harm. All vehicles have compromises for comfort/perf/mileage etc., to suit the tastes of a wide range of potential buyers.

Checked one at work today 32.5" front/ 34.5 rear. Just for future reference. There's another one around here that I gotta catch and check.

There are a few LITTLE VX's out there, aren't there?! Mine from what I recall is 37.5" front... and maybe even rear... mine sits pretty level as opposed to the slight front-down rake. I can't wait to squeeze bigger tires under it... but FIRST I need to finish squeezing bigger things under the hood! ;Db; ;pb;

Coach,
Is that 37.5 / front, measured with the engine removed?:)

Actually... its 38¼" with the motor pulled... it feels REALLY funny standing on the floor... but IN the engine bay... with the top of the firewall at about chest height! ;Db; ;pb; If my dang camera would work, I'd have my son take a picture of me standing down in there. I expect its gonna settle a little below the 37½" range once the LS1 goes in!

Measured another one at work. 32-3/4" front and 34-1/2" rear.

the best way to measure is from axle center to top of wheel arch, this eliminates any tire differences.

True, but I'm looking at lo-mile stockers and they usually still have the factory duellers. Plus, this way is quick, less conspicous and I don't have to touch someone elses' VX . Your suggestion is a valid point for this reference thread, Thank you.

Mine sits at 40 1/2" in the rear, and 39 1/2" in the front.
Hotsauce has a good point, as i have 3" of extra height from the larger tires and roughly 4" suspension lift.
