Problems with Calmini????

how many of you have had or have problems with the Calmini springs sagging:confused: :confused: :confused:

I have heard from a few who have...but Calmini denies this.... :mad:

I have some springs but never installed them. I do remember reading a post though, stating that the springs manage to pop out or something for some reason. Anyone recall this claim?

Yeah, they will sag after about 6 months of hard use....
They did offer to replace mine but not with a taller spring.

They do fall out also, but only if you run a longer shock than stock.

ARB OMEs have had no such trouble as far as I know

not worried about the springs falling out...just wire them in place so under articulation they stay.

as for OME's they do not give 3" of lift...right? but, I guess if the Calmini's keep sagging severely...and the OME's don't...then it would be better to have 2 1/4" lift that don't sag verses....3" lift springs that only last a few months then go to sh!&

My impression was that OME's give 3 also. have a set in the garage i have yet to install.

Are the OME 912's springs and Calmini springs the same size? How about swapping the springs for the 912's? Just a thought...

Are the springs really the only part that lifts it in the Calmini kit or are there spacers and whatnot that give you the extra 1/2-1"?

OME 912's do not give 3" of lift...more like 2 1/4"


Calmini is just springs for the lift in the rear...you crank your torsion bars for the lift in the front. Just need bump stop spacers in the rear or your tires will push up and rip out rivets bolts cladding, etc. But, in the front the stops are not needed

but, I guess you could go with the 912's or 913's and then get a 1" spacer...they are available.

OME 919 will give around 4" lift on the VX
on the trooper they lift 3+"

Does the calmini give you more than cranking the bars in front, and does it keep the cv angles lower? I have mine cranked and the 912 springs and the front sits a bit lower. And can you just order the front lift if it gives you more?

1) Front Bump stop extensions
2) Rear Bump stop Extensions
3) Rear Coil Springs (sag after like 3 months)
4) Front Shocks (not needed...just use stock)
5) Rear Shocks (too soft)
6) Rear Trac bar extension
7) Rear center brake line
8) New Cross member (not needed...is too soft anyway)

they used to offer longer brake lines, but they realized these are not really needed

and for the lift in the front...just crank your torsion bars to desired height

Got OME 912s on mine measures 37-1/2" from ground to top of cladding arch. Supposedly a 2-1/2" lift. My tires are 30-1/2".

Nope, but then my AT's are so torn up from the rocks that I just might not notice.;eeky; About 1/3 of my outter knobs are missing!

The OME 912 give 2 1/2" of lift. I made sure to measure before and after. Not as much as the calmini, at least for the first 6 months it seems! ;)

Holy Old Thread Batman!

That appears to be the word on the street. I don't think anyone has actually gotten a full 4" out of them, but close to it. With the torsion crank though, do the flip mod.

Unless you do a front axle drop your CVs will be screaming for mercy with that much lift! :freek:

So for longevity, I would be better of with the 3 inch.
