10w30 covers a lot of ground, and for a filter, I wouldn't go near Fram... use Mobil1, Purolator PureOne, K&N, or AMSOil.

I've been using Mobil 1 5W-30. It gets cold here, and 5W-30 maintains better viscosity in the cold than 10W-30, while getting to around the same viscosity warm and hot.

There are a few oil filter reviews on the net. I'd take some time and look through them. You'll get many different opinions, but most of the concensus is that, overall, Fram filters aren't that great... and a few others actually use Frame filters (Penzoil and Quaker State).
Check this out...

Also, do a search on the web for oil filter review and you should be able to make a better decision than just trusting my word!

I realize you're asking about Royal Purple, but here's what Amsoil Tech replied to me when I asked them what fluids to use in the VX:
We recommend the use of our AMSOIL Synthetic 5W30 (ASL) or our AMSOIL Series 2000 Synthetic 0W30 Motor Oil (TSO). The automatic transmission can use our AMSOIL Synthetic Universal Automatic Transmission Fluid (ATF), and the differentials use our AMSOIL Series 2000 Synthetic 75W90 Gear Lube (TGR).
Here is a link to our AMSOIL Filter Finder tool, which will display all available filters for your needs. Simply fill in the vehicle information.

I've used 20-50W here in TX for 70+K miles and drive it like I stole it. When I head north like SD, I drop to 0-30W. Diffs I use 75-140W front and reat tah covers all temps. See you manual for info / specs on oil weights.

Noticed some things above in this thread and decided to post this from an old post of mine, regarding oil filters, and FRAM specifically...
As for oil filters, I use the Fram X2 Extended Guard (XG3593A). It's one of the best out there and is actually the ONLY Fram filter I'd use (the rest kinda suck and use cardboard instead of metal in the caps). I would have gone with a Napa filter (theirs are made by Wix) but I read up on this stuff and chose the Fram X2. Definitely avoid the new Fram one they have that disperses Teflon into your engine. And the K&N oil filter is more pricey than a lot of them with better filtering than it has.
My VX gets a new one tomorrow.

...I use 10w30, got just over 41k on the ODO, my VX is pushing 5 years of trouble free miles using mostly FRAM filters BTW :)
K & N was a marked improvement in air filtration. As for oil, and others, fuel, PCV, etc... keeping everything new every 3000 miles, and using major manufacturers products that meet or exceed the owners manual (ISUZU) specifications should be enough to keep any vehicle in good shape for many years perhaps decades:yes:

with the old style oil control rings try 3 liters of 5W 30 and 2 liters of marvel Mystery oil, also put 2 ounces of MMO in tank per 10 gallons of fuel.
