OK... I am considering putting things together for a SAS in the near future. I have been researching the parts needed and looking for good write-ups of said work. I had asked the question of on the Wire but thought I should talk here to.
I was told that I should look for a Wagoneer D44 for this conversion. I was told the width would be about right, and would have my passenger side front drop I need. I have found a "Grand Wagoneer" axle complete from hub to hub inlcuding calipers for $250. The person who has it said that it measures 62" fron wheel mounting surface to wheel mounting surface. Anyone know EXACTLY what it measures on the VX? Maybe what the rear measures since I have cracked my torsions enough now to probably knock that measurement off. Actually... with as much as I have cranked things, I bet it would be about right.
I know that there have been a person or two who have talked about doing a SAS... just wondering what kind of good info they might want to share. I am considering doing this ASAP... pretty much once the VX is running again! lol... no, it isn't broken (YET), but darn it, I'm gonna fix it good!
Anyway, any info you wanna post would be great. Will this axle match up pretty good? Let me know. Thanks!
Coach... I mean Randy (I often forget who I really am) ;)
