Greetings Adventure Seekers,

When last we left our superheroes at the Boston Auto Show in November, they were discussing their next meet which was to be held at the Mohegan Sun resort/casino a few miles SW of Norwich, Connecticut.
I've been checking their website, www.mohegansun.com and came up with the weekend of February 15-16. This could be a long weekend for some of you, Presidents' Day is Monday the 17th. As I'm sure you all know, Valentine's Day is Friday, the 14th. Vicky and I will be there celerating our 1 year anniversary (2/11) and my birthday (32 yrs. on 2/17) and we hope everyone will join us. I know it's vXmas and everybody has other things in mind but this is only about 7 weeks away, so I figured I'd better at least plant the seed.
We could do pix and dinner on Saturday for any who don't want to spend the weekend. Pat Boone will be performing Fri. and Sat., David Gates, and the Springfield Spirit BBall team will be there on Friday. Saturday has Peabo Bryson and "Elvis, the Concert", along with all the shops, restaurants, kids' quest, and not least of all, THE GAMBLING!!!!! Check out the website, They've got a lot of stuff to do.
So, what do you guys think? Ed? Dave? Yefim? Well, I hope we have a good turnout. The womenfolk seemed pretty excited about it in November. Should be fun. Let me know, we'll probably start booking rooms after the first of the year.

Thanks everyone, and Happy Holidays!
Brian

Please let me know as the event particulars are developed. I live in CT and my wife is always looking for any excuse to visit Mohegan Sun. There is so much to do there (new hotel also) that you can spend hours.

Well I tried to get us some food & match betting coupons from Mohegan Sun but I was informed that at this time they only do this promo with the Bus trips. O-Well.
I did receive a mailing (from being a valued Mohegan card holder :)) for a special hotel rate of $99 a night till Feb 14th. I don't know if you (Brian & Vicky) or anyone else are spending Friday night there too. If so the only thing you have to do is call 1-888-777-2464 and tell them the booking code - WIN203 to get the $99 price - At least I think that's all :P

Well see you all there Saturday the 15th

Got a reservation for Sat. night, $325!!! OUCH!! Damn anniversaries! :)

So I figure maybe we can meet in the lot around 2ish on Saturday. We can take pix, show mods, and climb snowbanks!!! Go in and do check-in/gambling/shopping/whatever at 4 or so, then meet for dinner in one of the restaurants at 5pm. It sounds like "The Cove" will satisfy most appetites.

THE COVE
One of Mohegan Sun's best kept secrets. Located just outside the three fine dining restaurants, this unique setting offers a dining experience unlike any other. Even more unique are the display kitchens that beckon you to a comfortable bar stool to watch your meal being prepared.

Have a seat at The Longhouse raw bar, Pompeii & Caesar's mini pizzeria or Bamboo Forest's authentic noodle bar. A feast in The Cove is a wonderful way for guests to sample the delicious dishes from all three gourmet restaurants at a great price.

... or we can play it by ear. Then some digesting/recovery/gambling for an hour or two until the nighttime entertainment begins. I'm not sure I'm up for the magnificence that is Pat Boone but I'm sure we'll see something, probably the Elvis show. Then, more gambling. Come on baby, mama needs to pay for her new pair of shoes... the BFG 33s. :D

Hope to see some of you there.

Brian

The wife & I will be there. We are staying at the Hampton Inn, in Groton, which is only 6.7 miles away. Only $89 for the night, king bed! Let's plan a meeting time & place (Brian, your job) for everyone.

Hey Guys, I'm coming too. Not sure about the wife, she thinks I spend too much time with VX already :)
I don't plan to stay overnight though, so let me know what day of the two (15,16) you want to do the VX thing between gambling and all :)
I know Mercer (bantan) and Adam (zadam123) were thinking about one day trip too: it's only 2 hour drive away from New York. I'll try to convince them and George (NYC #1 Ironman) to come along.
Brian, let's make sure we meet at a specific place this time, I'm sure they have a big parking lot too ;).
Also, let's plan some activities for the meet: we should get the most out of it, we can find more things than just show off the mods and eat.
Will see you guys there.

The meet will be on the 15th, which is Saturday. We will meet on top of the River View parking garage on the river side. It is the side with the two HUGE flags atop two flagpoles, also huge. One is the American Flag, the other is the blue and white Mohegan Tribal flag. Go in the main entrance, stay to the right until you see a sign for the garage, then follow signs. If anyone has questions, you'll have to call the casino because I've never been there.
Ed, I've been assured that there is plenty to do. Between the architecture, built-in aquariums, beadwork mosaics, and rotating ceiling planetarium, we probably won't even have enough time to SEE everything. On top of that, there's the gambling, eating, shopping, playing, and if there's time, looking at the cars.

This sounds excellent!

I saw this thread, and ran down to see if my wife and I could come. At first she was excited, but then remembered SHE has plans to be in North Carolina that weekend!

Looks like while the wife's away, Rob will play....with his VX in CT!

I can't wait to meet some fellow VXers. I've had mine for a little over a year now, but some wacky schedule changes at work means this will be my first meet ever!

Not sure if I'll spend the night -- Mohegan Sun's only a couple hours away, but I'll DEFINATELY be there Saturday.

It's going on my calendar now!

Ok, now we need to decide on the time we're meeting by the flags. I suggest noon. I think this is the best time: people who drive in still can get their Saturday morning sleep ;), and people who are staying in can do some morning gambling, and we'll still have most of the day ahead of us.
Comments?

Ok I have checked Club VMAG and from the looks of it there might be 14 of us at this meet. I am hoping we could beat the record for 19 VXs at another meet I heard about.:bwgy: we only need 6 more people to do it. There are 9 diffenets and 5 maybes. I am hoping for the best.

Just replied on club.vmag, but I'll repeat here.
Priceline is great when you don't need something very specific: you always save money if you do a little research.
Brian, now that you saved, what's the next mod? ;) Just kidding, I think you can take a break, your ride is awesome already. :)

How many of us are at least staying for dinner? Also, are we planning on a casual (jeans type) of dinner, or maybe semi-dressy (dockers / golf shirt) type? I know Brian will vote for the (shorts) type of dinner, right Brian? Anyway, the wife was just wondering what to pack!

You DAVE it's amazing how great minds think alike. My wifey asked the same questionas to what to wear. I figured it would be jeans and a sweat shirt since not everyone well be staying late. The ones that are can always have a romantic dinner later. ;Dy; ;)
