Saab 9-7X

Kinda nice... looks a little like a trailblazer from the rear, which is bad... nice front end though reminds me of the FX's which i think is very good. Really want a FX45 to sit with my VX.

Interior looks nice and the nose looks ok, but from the rear-view mirrors back it does look just like a Trailblazer... blah.

I laugh, then laugh some more, then start rolling on the ground laughing. I think they look so stupid! They have a wopping, what 3" of ground clearance, can they go over speed bumps?! LOL definately not for me! I saw one up here about 6-7 months ago with California plates and could't believe they were up here right before winter started! ;eekr;

As for the Saab... another great grocery getter. That front end ruins any offroad ability, too far past the front tires.

The one I really have a thing against is the Mini Cooper. The marketing sort of makes me feel like I have some snotty European looking down their nose at the US. And it just amazes me that you can take something silly and have the highfalutin types just think it's all the rage. The same ones that wouldn't look twice at anything else like it for myriad reasons (too small, too cheap, whatever) but THAT is cool. Somehow they think that car is so sophisticated. Just gotta laugh.

The Scion... it's cool that even though it is boxy it's a bit different, just not my kind of different.

I would take a mini any day. Why buy a saab wagon ;Dy; if you can buy a used H2 hummer w/12k miles for the same price. That would be nice sitting next to the VX.

I think a lot of folks look at the Mini as an entry-level Beemer.

After all the hype, I'd like to see the results of some Mini wrecks and see if the owners stuck with the same vehicle as a replacement.

I really like the new Mini, as does just about every car magazine out there.

I test drove a Mini Cooper S (w/ turbo) and I was impressed. They're plenty quick enough and they handle great too. Also the feel is much more solid than most small cars. Actually, I hate to say this, but it was more fun to drive than my VX. My wife is actually thinking about buying one, hence the reason for the test drive. I could see a Mini parked next to my VX in the garage.:D

Don't feel bad for saying this... it is MEANT to handle great on the road. It probably wouldn't handle that great off-road (;)), but that's not what it was made for!

Yeah, it needs the Italian Job suspension upgrade to handle well in places like subway tunnels, dry canals and city parks.

MINIs basically are the entry level Bimmer. Many of the same suspension parts, electronics, and more. At the same time, they are built in England still, and unlike Saab, I think they have their brand image still very much intact.

I considered buying a MINI, but when a loaded model came to $27k, I decided that was too much for such a car.
