My passenger side cat broke off and Isuzu wants $900 for it. Does anyone know of a place where I could find a used one or a total VX. Any help would be appreciated

What are the details with this breakage?

It is illegal for salvage yard to sell you a used catalytic converter. $900 is ridiculous...

St Charles Isuzu can get it to you for ~$655.61 over the internet with the web discount rate.

6 bolts, 3 on the flange at the exhaust header, and 3 on the flange after the cat. just need to remember to take out the O2 sensors (2).

We can have some High flow cats made from these guys for about 200 bucks... I had one of the on my 95 GSR, made a nice difference and still passed emissions.

I would need the measurements of the cat and if any one has a photo would be cool too. I think there are 2 cats correct me if I am wrong? But he said that they would probably do only one so it can still pass emissions.

smcneal how about sending me your cat that is broken and I can send it off to them to fabricated with?

Think this might be me next mod, if we can get the ball rolling...

Cyrk,

I'm going to pull it off tonight. If I can get it welded by a shop I'm going to do that otherwise lets send it off for some fabrication by random. Also, let's do both sides if possible if these are easy to pull off and on when it comes time to go to emissions pull the test pipes off and replace with old cats. Will let you know tomorrow.

I know it links to Trooper with the wrong year, but the pic looks right.

That isnt bad... >$300

I imagine that the Axiom, Amigo, Rodeo, Trooper, VehiCross all has the same exhaust in that area. Same block on all of those models.

Here's one for a 99-01 rodeo amigo on the bay starting at $55 = actual shipping. Couldn't tell you if it's an exact fit.

For that price you could cut off the cat , have pipe custom bent to fit and still come out pretty well ahead.

Just an FYI:

I just called All Hyundai & Isuzu Auto (888-944-7898) http://www.allhyundaiisuzuparts.com/new_arrivals/isuzu.html#Area%20Vehicross to see how much they would sell me the cats for... $275 each... not too bad. He could not give the measurements of them though... blah

Would love to get them to fab up some high flow ones but do not have the cash flow for that at the moment...

If any one ends up replacing there cat(s) let me know as we can take your busted up ones and get some high flow ones made.

Looks like all we need to go with 1st is the mesurments of them...anyone got that info?

Well found a diagram of the cats off the workshop manual and emailed it to random technology... this is the response I got:

The diagram helps-- it pretty much tells us you'll need some universal fit converters. A direct fit replacement y-pipe, complete with converters, will run about $750. Tooling expense to be able to build it will be about $1,000. We can't justify that because we haven't had any demand for a replacement y-pipe.

Sounds like we are SOL on the aftermarket high flow cats?
