Hey there, got my new breaks n' stuff in.
Here's what I got done.
1. New Zinc plated cross drilled/slotted rotors (front and rear)
2. New pads(lifetime warrentee)
3. Steel braided brake line kit (from Darlington) super nice kit, easy swap out I highly reconmend this kit.
4. Repacked the berrings and new seals.

Not much of a difference as I can tell at this point, but I'm taking it easy on them. I was instructed to not ride to hard til the Zinc coating gets "rubbed" off. At the point of stopping it "rubs", like after you just got your car washed and your rotors are wet. After a day of driving(not much, I work at home) it got a lot better.

John, let me guess, they'll be on about the same time as the SC?;pg;

Jay, any idea if that braided line kit is lift friendly? Compiling my list for this spring's mod showdown and I would like to upgrade my rotors and brake lines, but I also have a 3" lift in mind.
Yes, Darlington lines are longer and originally designed for lifted vehicles but not too long for those of us who are not.

After a few days now and the Zinc rubbed off I rode a bit harder on them and yes there is a noticeable difference, a lot tighter. Coming to a complete stop, it stops on a dime(jerking stop) I'll have to adjust to that, or, I'm guessing it might mellow out in time.
It might be due to the fact that it's a new set up and with any break job you'll get the same results.
We'll see, but they look real purty.

Question:
How bad would it be to take off the break dust guard, ya know the black disk thing behind the rotor?
I think it would a lot cooler with that off, saw a corvette with a similar set up and it did'nt have a dust guard on it.

I can't remember where, but I've seen "Chrome Rotor Covers" that cover the entire interior wheel space (drilled and plain), they looked darn good by the way so do yours Jay, but with these 20" wheels that tend to collect alot of dust and grime I figure these would work better. Anyone have any idea where I can find em?
Bantan, something like these? These are for a vette though...

Brake rotor hub covers
Rotor hubs rusty? Or just looking for a way to personalize your C5 in a way that you don't often see? Machined aluminum hub covers fit over rotors without modification. Simply remove wheel and slip over studs. Powdercoated in red, black or silver. Sold in sets of four. Specify color when ordering.

Thanks bro, yes something like that, but wider, in chrome or polished Stainless steel.
Would the corvette ones work for our VX?

Nah, they cover the rotors, I want to show them off.
I think I can get away with taking them off, living in AZ. dirt and grime is not a problem here(never rains). I plan on making the habit of every time I wash my truck to hit the rims and rotors with Simple Green(stuff works great, without "burning" other parts like other rim cleaners).

Just did a little inspecting on those rotors covers....
Without taking the breaks and rotors off, they can't come off. Also it seems(in the rear) that there is a stabilizer bar connected to it, oh well.
