today as i was goin to school....i saw a celica gt(new model), had a trd kit, wing. i was cruising pretty slow at 65 cause i didnt need to get a speeding ticket, but i was late for class and he was probably too....so this man switches to the slow lane (highway4 is a 2lane road, either fast or slow) and paces me for a sec... then he takes off so im like...meh im kinda late so ill bite....at 80 i was next to him, then topped out the car at 115, looked like i was 3 car lenghts ahead of him. best part was when i was next to him, he had the best look on his face...i wish i took a picture of it....

Was it one of these:

Celica GT-S TRD (http://www.canadiandriver.com/articles/ly/03celica_gts.htm)

I don't know why Nissan didn't make the Celica into a more performance, compact, sports car. 180 hp (7600rpm) and 130 lb-ft torque (6800rpm). 0-60 in 7.2, 15.4 sec 1/4 mile... and this is the TRD equipped version! The normal GT version has 40 hp less!

No doubt the VX could hold its own against it. When I had my '97 Prelude I was told its main rival was the Celica GT... no way!!! The Prelude would have WASTED it!!!

that Celica is sweet ...........
.
Too bad Honda killed the Prelude ...... some would say it was their design/ styling group that killed the Prelude ........ but I miss it .......
.
I had two - an 83 and an 88 SI ......... 91 Civic SI after that (a very fun car) .........
.
I had a trailer hitch on both Preludes ....... they pulled a motorcycle trailer with no trouble ........
.
I even pulled an 8x10 snowmobile trailer (w/400 lb sled) with my 88 SI ..... did that a few times ....
.
.... that is one reason I am amused when I read that the VX is not/should not be used for towing ...........

yea it had the trd kit, but it was the gt...which is basically a corrolla engine in a celica. ~142 hp 100lb-ft. i was pretty sure i was gonna lose cause usally the gts has the trd kit. but as soon as he passed me i saw GT, without the S:D .

on top of my power advantage (215 to ~140) we were also goin up hill..

i think ur ludes was classed with the GT-S. which also in the classed against the almighty ITR:laughr: just tat TYPE R sticker gave the ITR 30 more horses, no way a gts could beat it.

I loved those commercials, the best one was probably with the dog running in to the bumper. I guess its kinda like the new Saturn commercials where every one keeps bumping the dam thing until a biker flies over the hood. The 1st time I saw the saturn one I almost died laughing :D

-PS my friend/neighbor put a fart canon on his '02 Corolla S a year or two ago, now his um GRAND MOTHER drives it. makes for an interesting picture/sound.
