So I am driving and I reach to hand my son something in his car seat in the rear and SNAP the lower bolster support on the right side by your rib cage made a popping noise and now the it leans up against center console...

Sucks not sure what to do, anyone have this problem or have a solution? Not sure if this is covered under warranty or not.

Be careful when leaning to get crap in the rear as this might happen to you. Or maybe I just gained some weight...:mbrasd:

See in the pic the side support touching the center console as apposed the the passenger side support...

That sucks! Thanks for the warning though, I lean back like that all the time to flop the rear seats down so they will stop rattling. Not worth breaking the front seat for though. I think that you should get it replaced under warrantee.

.
Bummer .... you may want to search for a used one at a junk yard.
.
However, if (when) the dealer does not assist, give the people at Recaro USA a call and see if they can help first ......

And if that doesn't work, upgrade to a Racaro Style seat!

Good luck, let us know what happens.

...Hate to see stuff like that. Yours is a 99, so unless it drove off the lot for the first time less than 3 years ago (6-2-2001 which is possible  but unlikely :noo: ) I doubt if it is still under factory warranty. Seats wear out, which is why many extended warrantys don't cover them. Check your extended to see if it's covered then get that fixed :luck:

BTW anybody try aftermarket seats in their VX? Mine are wearing out and are NOT covered under extended warranty

Well the dealer said that it should be covered under the 50K warranty!

Wants me to call back with my VIN and they will place the order for a new top part and frame.

Fingers crossed that this will all work out.

Too bad you don't have the gray/black interior... you could have put THESE (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&rd=1&item=7906772282&category=33701) in there!

Same thing happened to me awhile back. Since I have 162,000 miles, I didn't really do anything about it until I also decided that the leather was getting a bit worn looking. So I found a bunch of VX seats on www.car-part.com and just ordered one from Athens Auto Recycling for $100. Shipping to Florida is $50 for a total price of $150. Not bad!!!

Guys... what are the condition of the seats you ordered? Randy, was it in great shape? Randy, did you speak to someone before you ordered? Did they tell you the condition of the seat.

Just wondering... for the boards information.

The place I just order from said it was listed in good condition and she was going to look at it before it shipped to let me know if there were any tears or cracks. They also said that it is returnable if I get it and it is not to my liking.

It was in a auto wreck and had small bits of windshield in the cracks. Had to clean it up a bit, but it came out very nice and much, much better than the seat it replaced. My old seat was getting very worn and had a few cracks, along with the recline latch beginning to act-up, and the center side lumbar support internal structure had broken. 163,000 miles!!!

Not brand new or perfect, but very well worth the $150 spent on seat + shipping.
