Hi Guys,
My local mechanic changed out the serpentine belt/oil and filter and stated the dealership has to do the tranny fluid.
My question is when do you REALLY need to change the tranny fluid???? What is the price people are paying for this service??

Thanks Billy Phx az

when do you REALLY need to change the tranny fluid????
.
..... of course, that depends ..... the sooner the better......
.
30K seems fine .......... but I would not criticize anyone that would perform this service sooner ...... 15K ....... in fact, I would commend them ...................
.
price a trans replacement or rebuild .... and you may quickly schedule the trans service ........
.
the going rate - depending on the 'service' *** - appears to be in the $50-180 range .....
.
*** - there is a difference in the service performed by many shops and/or dealers ........ some change the fluid only ....... some 'flush' the fluid only ....... some drop the pan and change the fluid and filter ........
.
also - don't forget about the transfer case
.

I'm considering doing my tranny (transio's transmission, heh) service myself, when I get a chance. Does anyone suggest any synthetic / polymer transmission fluid in particular?
