Why does the new Axiom have 250 horsepower while it uses the same 3.5 direct injected engine as our vehicrosses?

The previous Axiom engines before 2004 also had lower HP (230 HP).

I am guessing since they are using the same engines we should be able to use the same measures Isuzu did on the Axiom to increase the ponies from ours.

Any ideas?

The 250hp direct-injected 3.5L engine in today's vehicles is different than ours in regards to fuel injector placement in that ours (VX) is NOT direct injection whereas the higher h.p. version shoots fuel "directly" into the cylinder while ours (VX) shoots fuel into the intake as is conventionally done on other vehicles.

The previous Axiom 3.5L rated at 230hp was more than ours (VX)
due to an improved, free flowing cast aluminum intake (not to be confused with aftermarket "air intakes with cone filters"!) and differently programmed ECM (computer) as well as a throttle cableless (drive-by-wire electronic) fitted gas pedal.

These two variations of the 3.5L have been discussed before but as of yet nobody (to my knowledge) has upgraded the VX with one. Coachreed is currently modifying his VX with an LT-1 V8 engine.
