I did'nt really notice this to much to now....

I filled my tank from the light being on to a little more than full(mind you, not pump clicking full)....18 gallons.
I've notice in the past few fill ups, I've watched my fuel guage and from the full point to about a half a tank I would get really bad mileage.
I think I drove about 60 miles and I'm down more than a 1/4 of a tank.

Has anyone noticed or run into a simular problem?

I always look at my gauge and I always seem to get around 75 miles per 1/4 tank. about 90% of the time when I look at the tank marks it almost always reads 75 at 3/4, 150 at 1/2, 225 at 1/4 and about 300 at the last hash mark leaving me about 2 gallons in the tank.

I'll get some differences depending on highway or city driving as well as my heavy foot, but mostly it sticks around those numbers.

Yeah my needle usually plummets till it hits half a tank and then it just hangs around between 1/2 and 1/4 for about 80-100 miles then heads on down from there pretty normaly. This is based on a 40 mile round trip to work 4 or 5 days a week at about 70mph.

Mine jumps all over the place. It is even worse when I have it in 4Lo.

..... Left Turns = Lotsa Gas | Right Turns = W.T.F. ?!? .....

Making left turns seems to fill my tank while taking right lowers my gas significantly...x

Keep your pressures up on your tires... I am running 32 lbs cold vs the stock 29 recommendation. Also and obviously the way you drive. I drive PCH over Malibu Cyn everyday to work. I've milked 420 out of a tank being a shylock with the throttle and this last week I pulled 375. I'm running all mobil 1 synthetics A to Z. Custom exhaust, Tornado(useless), my own custom intake (morgan-tec on Order!!)... I also put in premium in.

I've noticed what you have described as well. I'll go 100-120 miles and hit half a tank, then 200 miles from half to empty or when the light comes on. I don't think it's anything to be concerned with, I'm still getting the same overall miles per tank.

I think this is because we have a floater gauge in the tank. Turns will shuffle tank contents to the side and the floater will move with it. In this case, the floater is located on the right side of the tank for it to dip like that in turns. Nothing like taking a quick, heavy right and watching 1/4 of your gas disappear, heh. ;)

... well .......
.
my VX gas gauge is (also) not too accurate ..........
.
or else someone installed the optional 'small' 17 gallon fuel tank ..........

Float mechanism is on the drivers side of the tank and is not just a simple float design. It has been known to develop problems though were it shows the first 1/4-1/2 tank going quickly and then working correctly for the balance of the tank. Replacement is not easy.

.
hmmmm ......... I run 'em higher .........
.
low tire pressure for me is generally around 32-34 psi .....
.
I have been running my 255-55's at 38 psi or so .......
.
of course, this is a P Metric - and not a LT tire ............ and certainly not optimum for a 'plush' ride ............
