I have requested a quote from Exotic Car Warranty Co. They will send me a fax of the agreement so I will report back what it says. I have a 2000 with 68K miles. I am mostly concerned with electrical problems that may happen. Powertrain warranty is still in force.

This is the email I received today after requesting a quote this morning:
"Hello Anita
Thank you for allowing us the opportunity to provide you with our pricing and contract information for warranty coverage on your Isuzu. Coverage will be provided under our Premium Warranty Contract, which is bumper to bumper coverage, similar to the original Manufacturer's Warranty.
We have several options available to you for your Isuzu, with various deductibles (i.e. $50, $100 & $200). Based on a $200 deductible, basic pricing is as follows:
3 year/36k miles $765
2 year/24k miles $605
If you provide our office with your fax number, it would be our pleasure to forward our Premium Warranty Contract and additional pricing for your review.
We appreciate your consideration and look forward to satisfying your warranty requirements in the near future.
Best Regards,
Sue Elliott

I received this email today from Exotic:
"Hello Anita
Please accept my apology, we have quoted you an incorrect price for the
warranty on the Isuzu. Unfortunately the pricing has been based on an
odometer reading of 3 miles instead of 68k miles. Obviously, this makes
quite a difference to the pricing structure.
The correct prices, based on a $200 deductible are:
3 year / 36k miles $1900
2 year / 24k miles $1620
Please let me know if you would like the contract faxed to you based on the
above information."
I thought the first quotes were waaay too cheap. I'll follow up with the company and see what they have to offer.

Hi Anita:
I got an extended warranty through AAA which is bumper to bumper. I paid around $1,300 for it ($232 down and $89/mo. for 12 months). It's the Platinum coverage (7 yrs. or 100,000 miles).
If you go to www.AAA.com you can check it out.
Also, they pay for repairs by credit card which the repair shops love.

Here is some info on the AAA warranty. The price went up because I put in 38K miles to get the quote. I bought my warranty when my VX was only at 34K. Also, I have the 72/mo. or 100K miles. I put (oops) 84/mo. in my last thread. You don't have to be a AAA member either.
AAA MemberCare protection is pennies per mile and less than a dollar per day.
Platinum Coverage Information
Warranty Cost/mile Cost/mo. Total Cost
Platinum - 72 mo./100000 Miles 1.7¢ $23.81 $1,714.00
Platinum - 72 mo./72000 Miles 2.1¢ $21.42 $1,542.00
Platinum - 60 mo./ 100000 Miles 1.6¢ $26.82 $1,609.00
Platinum - 60 mo./ 75000 Miles 2.1¢ $25.78 $1,547.00

I know this is an older thread, but just had a question for anyone who had bought an extended warranty through an Isuzu dealer.
Were you told or is it true that an extended warranty can only be purchased within the time frame of your VX's basic warranty (before it expires) and when does it extend from if you can buy it?
In other words, if you have a 2001 VX the basic warranty is 3-years or 50K. But is it 3 years from the model year of the vehicle or from the date you purcahased it (if they happen to be different)?
More so, from when does the extended warranty extend from, the model year of the vehicle or from the date you purcahased it?
Any info would be greatly appreciated!!!!!

I did a lot of research on warranties a few weeks ago, i have a 2001 with 54,000 miles. I came to the conclusion there are an awful lot of warranty companies out there with some dubious practices, stay well away from Continental, their sales people called me constantly and got to the point of insulting me for not taking out their warranty, i had to hang up the phone and tell them not to call me back ever!
The best coverage is an exclusionary policy which lists whats not covered rather than what is. I settled on 1sourceautowarranty.com they seem to have a decent record, checked out BBB, online reports and customer reviews, their sales people are also polite and do not harass you, i have a contact Dale Easton, email deaston@1sourceautowarranty.com i was quoted $1550 for 4 years 48,000 miles from the date taken out, this was their highest plan with the most coverage.
I havent comitted to a warranty yet, but if i do, so far i like this one the best.
worth checking out.

I've also been looking at numerous warranties, though that 1sourceautowarranty place also has a few complaints, here are some links I found:
http://consumeraffairs.com/auto_warranty/1source.html
http://www.complaints.com/directory/2004/july/20/22.htm
http://www.usenetcars.com/archive/index.php/t-191012.html
they are also currently *NOT* a member of the BBB (just checked today).
I've been checking out autowarrantybroker.com
$1,705 for 36 months via their web site, not sure if I really need an aftermarket warranty yet
