Has anyone installed or can you get the TereFlex Gear kit, Low307 kit for 1997-2001 Isuzus Automatics.

I exchanged emails with TeraFlex about the TeraLow gears... at the time (a few months ago), they had no gears that would work with the TOD T-case... and had nothing in the works either. Its unfortunate because I have a certificate for 50% off the price of a set of them... oh well... Hope that answers your qestion.
Coach... I mean Randy (I often forget who I really am) ;)

My technical knowledge is limited when it comes to gears but in general when engaged in 4L I assume the TOD is disengaged anyway and that there is a good chance that the Automatic is the same as many other isuzu's so I am not sure why one could not use the gears. Tera list the 3:07 as Isuzu Automatic nothing one way or the other about TOD or Model zu.
Anyway we will see it may just be a pipe dream.
My talks with them indicate more that they have never done it so they are wary to sell. Someone needs to give it a try.

There is an offroad shop that has quoted me a price and is a Tera dealer so I may have to be the ginny pig and go for it.
I'll post the out come or updates I find.

Ok the 3:07 as some may already know do not work on the TOD but in theory if you were swap out to a regular isuzu auto instead of the TOD then you could get the 3:07's
Next questions is that they do make a 5.38 front rear ring&pinion for isuzu 10bolt-10B538, 10bolt front-10B538F and 12bolt-12B538 but the Tera Rep could not tell me if they would or would not work on the Vehicross.
Does anyone know?

what has Tera Low t-case gears have to do with ring and pinions????? 2 total different issues.
but yes the 477's and 538's are made for and will work for our axles in the VX

Same manufacturer, so once the tcase was answered i used the same thread for the ring and pinion question is all.

we have a
Corporate 10 bolt front IFS axle 17Spline.
Corporate 12 bolt rear axle 26 spline.
the bolt size is counted on the ring gears not the 3rd member housing.

Great information, I assume for some it is common knowledge and I appreciate the information.
As for the 4.77's I have not found a place to purchase those is there any suggestions? I was thinking of goin for 33 tires after the 31's wear out and I assume it would be a better match then the 5.38's which would be better for 35's maybe.
Anyway I am excited about the VX and can not wait to modify it and get it Trialer Ready.

Can someone explain the difference between all of these gear sets, and what they would do for the VX? I've got 33's on mine, and sometimes it seems a bit sluggish; would regearing make it a bit peppier? Sorry for my ignorance, but I'm sure I'm not the only one who is wondering what all this means.

you need at least 456's to gain back the performance you lost from stock tires to the larger ones...you would be more satisfied with 477's though

Thanks for all the great insight SPAZZ, do you have any suggestions to were to get 4.77's
kpaske, when you go to larger tires you degrade the performance rating so to "get it back" you can change the ring&pinion
I know TeraFlex has the 5.38's at least
Bottom line is do what you find best, dont take my word for it. And the best of luck to all!

I believe 4.77's are available for the older trooper styles and are intended for 31" tires. They were also a factory option. They wont work for us. That generation has the 10 bolt rear and ? front. When they went to the 2nd gen, they took the larger back and used it up front and slapped an even larger 12 in the rear so f and r got a size increase. thats same as ours. our only option is the 5.38 as far as I know (in the US). 5.38's used on troopers brings the gearing with 33's to about stock again and the speedometer is accurate again. So if 33's is what you want, and stock ratios is what you want, go with the 5.38's. If 31's is what you want, the 5.38's will lower your gears a little. Great for 4wheeling, acceleration, not for gas mileage, not for top speed. I still cant believe all the VXers that keep wanting 1/4 mile times faster, but dont do gears.
