Just thought it would be fun for any motor-heads to think up the names of all those movies where someone ends up spooling up that Supercharger! I'll start with a few of my favorites!

1)Mad Max---Mel Gibson running down the bad bikers!

2)Road Warrior---sequel to Mad Max

3)Lone Wolf McQuaid---Chuck Norris as a Pre-"Walker Texas Ranger" driving around in a Supercharged Dodge Ramcharger.

4)The Fast & The Furious----Vin Diesel's supercharged '69 Dodge Charger
okay.......your turn!!!!!

If I was going for favorite "Movie", I'd say Mad Max, then Road Warrior... but favorite SC'd car?

Maybe the Shelby GT-500E Fastback (with the Super Snake package = 750hp) from Gone in 60 Seconds (newer version):

One of the original car chase movies is "Vanishing Point". It came out in 1971. It features a 1970 supercharged Dodge Challenger. On of the best car chase movies ever. It just came out on DVD. WATCH IT!!!!

cool beans!

This is where I'm getting an education, 'cause I didn't know "Ellenor" was SC'd...I remember the NOS but didn't know about the SC!

I saw Vanishing Point many moons ago and didn't know the Challenger was SC'd either!

Gotta say the Interceptor in Mad Max. When he dumps it and pumps it in the end of the movie, I am always like "DAMN!"

Love that car too. Aussies get all the cool US versions. :p

Well, this is where I was confusing you. "She" isn't SC'd in the movie, but there is the base GT-500E, a second package which adds NOS, and the "Super Snake" package that adds the SC with NOS for 750hp.

I also remember seeing a story on the Interceptor from Mad Max/Road Warrior where the SC setup was fake... just rigged to open a flap and look like it was doing something. Very cool non the less (and I could be wrong)!

The Challenger was not SC in my opinion. It was a stock vehicle with the instructions to deliver it. Challenger did not have SC back then. My brother owned one and now he wishes he kept it.

Dutchguy.

At our local car show there is a guy who claims to have the original along with the steering wheel on the wrong side ;)
The charger is indeed fake as least on his. It looks mean in its own way but unless you are all Road warrior out then the driver looks funny. He has all the paper work on a board to display about the car.

I will try to shoot a pic if you are fan of the show and the owner shows it off again.

I found the following tidbit from a max max website:

"Blower Setup - Fake and could NOT be turned on/off with the switch. When you see the blower kicking in, they are actually just starting up the car with the blower belt connected. Otherwise, when the blower is not running, the belt is not connected. When you see the blower shut off, they are actually just shutting the engine off. Get it??"

Did you ever notice at the beginning of Mad Max (the second one) at the beginning, as they merge the footage from max driving the car from the first movie and the footage from the second movie the word "WIELAND" emerges from the supercharger? In fact, the supercharger is different in the second movie. It's so blatant, though, it makes one wonder where Max found a new S/C in the middle of the wasteland...

Why did you guys have to go and spoil it for the rest of us Mad Max fans???? I did not want to know that the Super Charger was FAKE!!! That is a real bummer. I was always so impressed when he lit that baby up. I think that is what got me started into street machines as a teenager. Oh well, things aren't always as they seem.
If I remeber correctly, wasn't there bad*ss supercharged car in that Sylvester Stallone movie "Cobra"?

Hate to break this to you...lol...but Mad Max's Blower is fake and there is no Santa or Easter bunny either! j/k!

I remember the '49 Mercury from "Cobra" having NOS but I don't remember if it was SC'd too? Looks like I'll be renting that one from the $.99 section of my local video store again to find out!
