Went to the Rt. 23 lube center and got the transfer case and diff oils changed. Made sure he used Dexron III in the TC and synthetic 75W90 gear oil in the diffs. Only charged $79.99, no extra for the synthetic. Had the fuel filter changed too.

The belt was really worn so I had that replaced. He did charge me $59.99 for that which I thought was way high but overall $153 is alot cheaper than what Isuzu quoted me.

At what intervals are you suppose to change the transfer and differential? every 15 or 30K?

Where on 23? How long did they take? I'm looking for a place to have this done, but I don't trust anyone who has not done it before........

If you don't mind my asking, what did Cerami charge you? I know the lube place told me it would cost $39 to replace the fuel filter but I brought my own with me and he only charged $10. I think it's because he was salivating over my VX.

The Auto Mall on Route 23 South, just above the Home Depot in Butler (973-492-8308). They did a great job and it only cost $79.99 for the transfer case and diff oils, synthetic. Ask for Danny, the manager.

I think the belt replacement was high though, $59.99 but overall still alot cheaper than Isuzu in Belleville.

Serp belts cost $15 and take only a 14mm socket wrench to change...or some here use just their hands. Some synthetics require the use of 2 bottles of LSD additive - listen when you make sharp turns or tight circles for noise. Also, see manual (or search this site) for proper diff fluid based on temps to be encountered in next 6-12 months. 2 heavy will make it harder to drive until warmed up but should do no harm.

I know, I got rooked on the belt. I made certain he added the LSD additive and that the gear oil was 75W90. He wanted to put in 140 but I thought it would be too thick if the temp dropped too much.

Brought my VX into Cerami with one month left on the warranty.
They still had not fixed my windows right. This time I brought in the Vehicross.info article on how to fix the windows right(printed it out).
And, while it was there and my free time limited had them do a 3000mile oil change with a 50/50 blend.
They called me back that am telling me I needed rear brakes and rotors turned, fuel filter, air filter. They whole thing with oil change would have cost me $500.00
I want to change/ upgrade my brakes and intake so just let him do the fuel filter at 19,000 miles. Never thought to ask the price...they are soooo cheap usually !!
When I picked up my VX the bill was for $118.00!!!
$45.15 for 50/50 blend oil and filter change and
$66.43 for fuel filter (the filter was $49.98!!!)
<<<<<So how bad did they hammer me????>>>>

Also I asked if the mechanic used the info from the club site to fix the window and he said ....NO...he has his own special way to do it...but that lasted a few weeks last time they did it...so there ya go.....We will see how long this lasts!

That ends another dealer story!!!

Filter is $10 - full synthetic oil is less than $4 a qt. - ouch!

sorry, that's ceremi in NJ.. STAY AWAY!!! I mean they did change out my transfer case without inspecting the tires or asking any questions. Had they taken a close look at them, that they would have voided the warrenty because they had become completely bald, smooth to the touch. Thanks Mr. Cerami for the band new transfer case, front censors, and countless other things.. Guess that's why they charge like 80 bucks for a stupid oil change ;eeky;

Changed mine to a Gator back, with my hands some time ago and kept the old one as a spare.

I had all my fluids changed at an independant shop, transfer, diffs, transmission, rad flush all synthetic with the correct additives and it was about $450

Whilst at the local dealers (Jim Lupient Isuzu, Minneapolis) for a warranty issue (as yet unresolved diff noise...long story) I had them repack the weel bearings because it was on their fixed menu pricing sheet at $129 which after reading a how to post here sounded like a bargain. They did say when i picked it up that they might have to ammend their menu pricing though :)

Dealership incidentally have been great to deal with.

I think I got a great deal on the t case and diff changes. Isuzu in Belleville told me $149.95 for the diffs and $129.95 for the tc oil change. I got it all done for $154.00 in Butler. I ALWAYS ask what it will cost before they do anything because I can always take it somewhere else if they're gonna try to rip me off. It's amazing how people take advantage.

Still an "ouch" when you can do it yourself in a liesurely hour for about $20. ;eeko;
