Yes, it is broke. My passenger side window will not go up or down at all. The motor still runs, and I can hear the guides moving up and down. I can actually hear the guides coming up and hitting the window. So, I know there has been a lot written about "Window Fix", but i don't think this is going to work in this case. Haven't torn into it yet, but just wondering if some of you guys have any experiences. I read in a post that if something like this happens, and it has obviously, that I'll have to get a whole new window! True? If so, covered by warranty?

Sounds like you broke the plastic tab affixed to the bottom of the window. The same happened to me and I had to replace the whole window. As far as the warranty is concerned, it depends on what mileage you have - but I cant remember the cutoff.
I remember one owner on the forum (I think Kahuna) glued glue new tabs on - I think he got it done successfully.

Could just be that the window came loose from the tab. That happened to me, and I had the same sound that you're having now. My guess is that it's just the arm that holds the window moving up and down inside your door loosely and clanging on other stuff.

Anyhow, I fixed mine by opening up the door panel and setting the window back in the track with some aquarium silicon. Then I used some marine bearing grease to slime up the tracks a bit, and voila!

Here are some pics:

This happened to me also. What I did was glue the tabs back togeather with super glue. While using a clamp to apply pressure, I super glued the tab back to the window. For extra support, I fabricated a aluminum tab that would go over the plastic one and would be glued to the window. Worked fine for me ;Dy;

I tried using epoxy for this before ( I think it was called JB weld, "Worlds strongest Epoxy"), but due to window binding, the tab just broke in half and epoxy was not holding it anymore.

Thanks Guys,
A lot of useful information here. I'll have to tear into this weekend to see what has actually happened. My VX only has 27,000 miles on it, so I would hope that this would still be covered under warranty. But, it might just be easier to do it myself. If anyone has had this done under warranty, please let me know.

Adam

I had my window and regulator replaced under warranty. I'll check my records on what my mileage was at the time.

Adam,

My VX had only 25k miles when I got it, but warranty had expired a month before. Remember bumper-to-bumper is only 3 years.
