View Full Version : Wheel'in Hackberry Creek

ME (Triathlete), Jeff (TucsonVX) and Victor (VCAMILO) took a little trip this weekend to do some wheel'in and camp'in. We met up Saturday morning in Superior, Az. and then headed out and hit Hackberry Creek. This trail has some beautiful scenery and enough rocks, ruts and fun to keep you on your toes. After that we refueled and headed to Walnut Canyon. Lots of big towering cliffs and we wheeled into the dark. We found a clearing, sat up camp, grilled some steaks and ,thanks to Victor and his 17" laptop, watched "Starsky & Hutch" (well at least all of it except the last 20 minutes when the battery went dead :homer: Doh!). Woke in the morning, ate some omeletes and packed the gear. Then we finished the trail with only a few "planned" detours. Okay, so we got lost a few times! But then again we've been there done that before;Dy; . Here are a few pics from the trip...

Thanks for sharing your adventures. You westerners have so much beautiful country to wheel thru. Lots of rocks too! How in the world do you keep your VXs in such good shape? Are they all lifted? I just can't imagine my stocker making it thru that stuff without the rocker panels, etc. getting totally beat up...

All 3 are lifted (OME springs/torsion bar cranked up)! Don't have to worry about those rockers if you drive with a little finese!

The "sunroofed" ebony belongs to VCAMILO on this site. Drop him an email and I'm sure he'd be happy to answer your questions. There are several VXers on this site that have opened there roofs. Do a search and you should find quite a bit of info.
