1. What exactly does the "WINTER" button do? When I push it in, the winter light in the cluster flashes then goes out. I'm thinking its like the "POWER" button, but when that button is pushed, the power light stays on. I'm assuming a busted switch.

2. I heard mention about this in another thread, but no detail. What does the option button do on the remote?

Thanks!

I believe from a stop the winter mode starts you in 2nd gear to keep from accelerating too quickly and spin your wheels on slippery ground.

From an earlier post from Tone,,.

"... the light will ONLY stay lit in winter mode function IF the car is stopped and in DRIVE (NOT 4 low, R, 1, 2, or 3) - it automatically turns off Power mode. Switch does NOT stay down but will light the light IF the above conditions are met until you reach 7MPH. See manual for more."

I think it starts in third, and I thought it was until 20. but I should probably check the manual...

Yup, it starts off in third gear from a stop when pressed and then clears itself once you get up to speed. It's also nice in stop & go traffic or on cruise nights wnen you are just creeping along. Try it out by activating it and then flooring it... see what happens.
