Drop in filters are great for ease of install and retention of water rejection but will not flow as much as a large cone filter. Green makes a panel filter that drops into the stock box that outflows the K&N and of course the stock filter for $65 delivered to you.

Green also offers a cold air Twister filter (see post elsewhere) that takes a large cone filter and puts it inside a cannister that pulls from the fender where the stock air intake is - the Calmini is just a cone filter with a bracket and it will suck horespower robbing heated air into the engine. Nice kit but questionable performance increase due to the hot air it injests.

More clean air is always better - Green filters down to 5 microns - others do not...

I have that Calmini setup on one of my vehicles. It is a nice unit for the money. You can always add a Green filter to the Calmini if you want to improve filtration. I am not sure there was much performance gain, but I like the cone filter sound. True to Tone's observation, it could benefit from some sort of heat shield. Due to its design, the intake is both higher and farther back in the engine compartment (nearer the hot engine and hot air) than some of the other designs I have seen. That said, I am looking forward to trying one of the Green intakes sometime soon. You could always try the Green drop in. If you are not happy with it, another member might take it off your hands. Good luck.
