View Full Version : 10% ethanol gas question
My local gas station sells ethanol blend gas:

Will there be any problem if I start using this gas? I have only used "regular" in my 2000 VX. (57K miles)
Thanks in advance for your input and help,
Lori
The owners manual only specifies NOT to use fuel that contains Methanol. I have used the 10% ethanol blend and not experienced any issues but do believe I get less MPG from it which will also occur in the colder months already.

Chicago is all 10% Ethanol blended fuel. It doesn't hurt anything, but it does lead to lower fuel economy.

Ethanol v.s. Methanol?
There is a difference..correct me if I am wrong here.
Either way the mileage is effected.
But what is the real difference...any chemists out here who can answer that one.

Methanol is more agressive and made (I believe) from oil , where ethanol uses natural sugars in crops like corn as a ground base material.
