I'd like to do something unconventional with my lights. Doing a "clear" mod seems to be the popular thing nowadays, but I'd like to go for a more spartan look.
I'm thinking of something along the lines of one of those "El Kameleon" car stereos by JVC. When the power is off they look like a flat black plastic panel - the idea is to fool thieves into thinking you don't have a stereo, just a filler panel.
I'd like to do something like that for all my exterior lights, except I guess my headlights. I'd like to get lenses made out of some sort of material that matches the black paint on my VX so that when they are not turned on they would blend in to the body of the car if you didn't look to closely. It would probably require that the original bulbs be replaced with brighter bulbs or leds to compensate for the darker lens, but I can work with that.
Anyone ever see something like that on a car or have suggestions for material I could use to get that kind of effect?
