16" vs. 18" wheels

Does anyone know why the VX changed from a 16" wheel to an 18" wheel? Is there any benefit from having one over the other?

So far, after trading my 18's for 16's, all I can tell is that the only reason for the switch to 18's was for style. So far, I enjoy my 16's just as well as the 18's. Of course, you can't exactly corner as well without the low profiles the 18's have, but oh well, smoother ride.

Now I have the exact opposite opinion.
I had a '99 VX and then bought Moncha. My wife is the one that is the better judge because I don't care about the ride, but, she swears that the 18"ers give a much better ride than the 16'. She says that there is less "jounce" to the ride and she doesn't need to wear extra support upstairs...
You know what I mean? Wink, wink, nudge, nudge.

My girl friend says that with the 18's she would almost get black eyes everytime we would go over a speed bump, now with the 16's she says the bumps are tollerable.
I guess experiences vary......:confused:
