UNEVEN THOUGHTS

So I'm getting some new tires for my 18"x9" rims(5" backspace, 2mm offset). I know that most people have gone with 285/60/R18 and had little trouble with fitment. I'd like to get the Nitto NT-404's in 305/55/R18 which measure 31.2"x12.24" wide. Will I beable to fit a 12.24" wide tire in that front wheel well by just doing some trimming? I'm not sure how to do the math.
Probably not if the offset is less than the stock rims (i.e. pushes the wheel out further than the stock wheel sits in addition to the extra wheel width. But they would look cool... Most tire places will order and mount one tire to test fit for you and all you have to do is pay the freight if you don't buy them.

I posted a thread a couple of weeks ago that has a link to a website which explains how to calculate required offset in relation to rim width and tyre size. Do a quick forum search using "offset"
I used this to choose my tyres/rims (285 75 R16 on 8" rim) and I only had to trim the tiniest amount from the front moulding so it proves it works (I have 3" lift).
Remember changes in offset can dramatically effect steering/handling, I ran my selection past a specialist before purchase.
