I just got my Legacy seat covers for the front seats and the first step is to remove the headrests. The shop manual says to take the truck to the dealer - as if THAT would happen. Can someone please tell me the secret to removing the headrests without destroying anything? Thanks!

'fraid you're gonna be stuck with the instructions from the manual. I know no other way of doing this. Sorry

Irv,
According to the 2001 owner's manual: "The front headrests are not intended to be removed by the vehicle owner in normal use" "The headrest can be removed by dealership for service".
However, in the 1999 Isuzu SUV Reference Book the headrests can be removed after they are pulled up fully to expose the two push points under the headrest pins(they are located in the front of the seats as they are facing the dash)
Good luck and don't break anything.....John

That did it - just press HARD on the collars, at the notched side of the support rods and pull up. Off they come.
