Yaaah Nice,
Me like too, especially retro/spartan int. w/ plenty of OH $H1T handles. Also, interesting tread pattern on tires.

Check out the Toyo site on it.

One report says available with a standard 6 speed tranny in 4WD version.
Its going to be interesting to see if they can truely price it "affordable".
"The FJ Cruiser will deliver true off-road ruggedness, image and performance at a very low price, making it highly accessible for a large volume of young buyers."

I likey too!

That looks a lot more do-able than the concept that I saw at the NY auto show in 2003. I like it. I'm also a fan of the (potential) Gladiator.

Do yourself a favor and DON'T watch the unveil video though. "freedom trucks" hhrumph...

Initially they had a different FJ coming out, may have been the one mentioned by mbeach and I thought that one was way cooler. If I can find the pic I'll post. We have a 1975 FJ and it's a four wheelin machine it will be hard pressed to replace it!

Relax: It's like a Mini Cooper on Steroids. Until they tell me about the crawl ratio- front suspension & drop a diesel in it, I will stick with the VX ;boreg;

This reminds me of trying to make a car with legos and you can never get the fenders to actually round. I do not like that look much at all. I love the fat curves of the VX's fender flares, it creates a bigger meaner stance. This vehicle that is looking like a Honda Ele-meant-2-b-a-cool-car-but-falls way short and looks more like a five year old should be pushing it around on his play mat before nap time. I didn't think there could be a more annoying fender area than a Honda Ele-meant, but looks like I was wrong. But it's still just a car and just a concept car at that. I think the VX is the only car that actually looks better (way better) than the concept car it came from.

Ryan

I much prefer the looks of a Hummer to that. And it may be pretty awesome for all I know, but I'm not really drawn to it. Kinda like Porsches are for me. No doubt they rock and I bet I'd love driving one, but they've just never much appealed to me when it comes to aesthetics. Not that they're ugly or anything.

Now the VW Concept T looks SWEET. I like the Toyota RSC concept too (looks like a bad-arse lunar rover too), but if they ever built it I think the design should be cleaned up a bit because it was a just a little too busy.

Yeah, boxy sucks. I think it is part of this retro trend the entire automobile industry seems to be going through. Even the new audi's look boxy on the front with the huge grill. The trend will have definitely jumped the shark the day we get a lambo that looks like a volvo.

I really like it. I like it for the same reasons I like the VX. It has a unique look that's all its own, and it's capable of doing what an SUV should be able to do. If SUVs were people, I think most of them would be metrosexuals. The FJ Cruiser (like the VehiCross) doesn't look like a metrosexual SUV.

I know lots of people are going to think it's ugly, but I think it's gorgeous. I'm seriously thinking about getting one of these, but I haven't really seen it in person yet. There's also no official word on the pricing either. They're releasing it as a 2007 model in Feb 2006. I can't wait.

Check out these sites for more photos of the production model.

They are going to make way too many of these for me to want one after all! Sharp looking still and capable.

I think it's great - it's funny how the description of rear visibility and getting into the back seats mimics the VX reviews from years past.

We're actually heading over to the Toyota dealership today to talk about trading the Dragon for a Tacoma SuperCab.

I'll look for some literature on the FJ -I'd like to find one of these next year.
I am bothered about the fact that it comes in a 2wd only model. To me that makes it kind of a traitor to the FJ concept.

Too Japanese looking for me. Like Hilary said,"You know what I mean".

The one thing about the FJ that disappointed me is the wheel base length.
This is close to a full size SUV at 106" WB and total length & width is the same as a large SUV. Darn near the same size as my '99 4 Dr Montero.
And one test report said Premium gas was reccomended! :thumbdn:
